Historia
From birth to death, human beings are hardwired to connect to other human beings. Face-to-face contact matters: tight bonds of friendship and love heal us, help children learn, extend our lives, and make us happy. Looser in-person bonds matter too, combining with our close relationships to form a personal "village" around us, one that exerts unique effects.

Excellent book worth the listen

I found the content of this book to be fascinating! Very well written and worth the read! This being said, the narrator’s voice is very robotic sounding. While I appreciate how she annunciates well, it was so unappealing initially that I considered not finishing this novel. However, I did get used to her voice and am very pleased that I finished it after all.

Historia
A single mother turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters, but their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother's sister, a fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from - a place to which she vowed she'd never return.

Great story, poorly executed

Not as good as girl on the train but a thrilling story regardless! It was confusing and left me wondering sometimes what the author was trying to convey, but if you have the patience to get through the entire story, it is actually very good!
