Ian has produced another mammoth collection of tales written to inspire dread and wonder. Deftly read by Ian, the net is once again cast far to capture all sorts of delightful tales. Classics from 19th century writers like Hawthorne, Maupassant and Poe are included. Plenty of 20th century pulpy goodness from Lovecraft, Howard and others as well. Expanded Cthulhu mythos tales include Kuttner's "The Salem Horror" and Wandrei's "The Tree-Men of M'Bwa".

Classics like Stoker's "Dracula's Guest", Blackwood's "The Willows" and Harvey's unsettling "August Heat" are here as well as a wonderful selection of works by lesser known practitioners of the weird. Ian includes some fine contributions of his own to this foray into the strange. H.G. Wells, Frank Belknap Long and PKD are not forgotten either.

Another brilliant compilation by HorrorBabble following their previous two stellar volumes. Something for everyone here. The stories and reading are first rate. What will volume IV bring next? I will be listening in anticipation!

80 years before Fox Mulder (X-Files) and 60 years before Carl Kolchak (Kolchak: The Night Stalker) and before Seabury Quinn's Jules de Grandin or Manly Wade Wellman's John Thunstone there was William Hope Hodgson's Thomas Carnacki. Arguably one of the first occult detectives, Carnacki used a more scientific approach to the investigation of “hauntings.”

Contents include:

1 – The Gateway of the Monster
2 – The House Among the Laurels
3 – The Whistling Room
4 – The Horse of the Invisible
5 – The Searcher of the End House
6 – The Thing Invisible

Superbly read by Ian Gordon, these tales are just as entertaining now as when they first entered print in 1910. So accept Mr. Carnacki's invitation to come to his home and listen to Ian as he reads the adventures of this archetypal detective. Out you go and get your copy!

HorrorBabble did it again! Ian and Jen have delivered another healthy helping of the weird in this second collection of tales. Among the usual suspects like Blackwood, Hodgson, James and Lovecraft we get a wonderful assortment of other authors and lesser known works that really make this collection, like it's predecessor, shine that uncanny light that those of us with tastes for this kind of literature embrace and let wash over us.

Ian's discretion in the tales he chooses and his ability in reading are the keys to the collections being so magical. Tales from Lovecraft's friends like Howard's “The Black Stone” and Long's extraordinary “The Hounds of Tindalos” are standout tales from the expanded Cthulhu mythos. We get a few gems from Lovecraft's protégé Robert Bloch as well. Ian includes some more modern tales including a dystopian story from Frank Herbert and a humorous dip into the paranoia that you'd expect PKD to conjure up.

Another great collection from HorrorBabble that brings out the Great Old Ones as well as more obscure but equally wonderful tales of the weird, including a few more contributions from Ian himself. This assortment of tales has something for everyone and the reading makes the tales all the more enjoyable. Bravo!!

This collection of horror, ranging from the ghost stories of Blackwood and James to the cosmic horror of Lovecraft, is a great offering of what the genre has to offer and is wonderfully narrated by Ian and Jen. Among the titans of the weird, Ian sprinkles in lesser known works that merit the attention of anyone seriously interested in widening their palette, including the criminally underrated Frank Belknap Long.

Others gems include more modern works by Bradbury, PKD and Vonnegut. Ian also plumbs the depths and procures some of the works of horror by Robert E. Howard (too often overshadowed by his Conan stories) and John Martin Leahy. Ian even offers a few of his own contributions to the weird as well.

All together a solid collection and narrated in such a way as to breathe new life into these great tales of the weird. Another excellent contribution from HorrorBabble in keeping the founders and practitioners of weird fiction alive. Looking forward to Volume II.
