Historia
While scores of books have been written about Elvis Presley, this is the first meticulously researched biography of Tom Parker written by someone who knew him personally. And for anyone truly interested in the performer many consider the greatest and most influential of the 20th century, it is impossible to understand how Elvis came to be such a phenomenon without examining the life and mind of Parker, the man who virtually controlled Elvis' every move.

Great biography of Colonel Tom Parker
Revisado: 03-14-24
Well written, clear bio about a very complicated man. Colonel Tom Parker is mostly known as Elvis Presley’s manager, and most of the book is about that, but the beginning, before he meets Elvis, is fascinating too. I really enjoyed this one. The reader is excellent too, and alters his voice for different people in a way that helped me to understand dialogue.

Great biography of L Ron Hubbard
Revisado: 02-12-24
Mostly, L Ron Hubbard comes out looking like a bad guy, confidence man, and rascal. But, there is also another side to him which this author does show you, basically a brilliant, charming, and manipulative leader. I saw a podcast on YouTube by Chris Shelton. Shelton himself is an interesting person, and he was in Scientology. Shelton had on an another guy, Dr Yuval Laor, who said Hubbard might have had temporal lobe epilepsy, which would’ve made it possible for Hubbard to both be a con man and simultaneously sincere about Scientology. The symptoms of Temporal Lobe Epilepsy and Hubbard’s strange behavior overlap, so it’s a very interesting unproven theory. The theory was in the back of my mind when listening to the book. Hubbard was clearly a highly complicated, brilliant, and sometimes dangerous figure. Great book. I enjoyed listening. The reader is excellent.

Entertaining dystopian post-apocalyptic fiction
Revisado: 01-28-24
I like the characters. This is part of a larger series, and the other books are great, too. They have funny dialogue, there is loss, overcoming obstacles, journeys. Themes of friendship, love, and humor populate the dialogue despite it being similar/like a zombie fiction novel. The author and reader are both extremely talented. The story makes sense, but also contains surprises. Very enjoyable.

Historia
It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Historia
Many poker players can make good decisions at the table with a reasonable frequency. Nevertheless, there are numerous situations where even very experienced players behave in predictable ways. These deeply-ingrained habits lead them to make mistakes. The problem is that these situations won't often arise at the table by chance - you have to make them happen. Exploitative Play in Live Poker is a ground-breaking work that teaches you how to create the circumstances where your opponents will be likely to blunder and how to exploit them when they do.

Helpful
Revisado: 07-12-23
This book is helpful. It describes how other players’ self-perception, and conversely how you present yourself, influences the decision making process of your opponents. He backs it up with statistics which support raising and folding in uncomfortable situations.

Historia
The world is suddenly thrown into chaos as a research project is sabotaged and the dead come alive to feast on the living - it seems like an old story, doesn’t it? The Apocalypse Crusade is not that book. You are not suddenly thrust into a world gone mad. Instead, you get front-row seats to how the sh-t went down. In real time you are witness to the agony and the horror…and the terrible stupidity that made it all possible.

Revisado: 06-25-23
I really enjoyed this zombie novel(s). You get a lot for your money-credit. I am hard to please with fiction and return a lot of fiction novels after listening for around 20 minutes when I start to predict too much of the upcoming text to enjoy the book. This book found a good balance between developing a great story and being surprising. Not boring.

One of the best
Revisado: 02-17-23
This is one of the best audio books I’ve ever listened too. The reader is magnificent. The story is thoughtful and plays with the undead-vampire-zombie-virus type concept in an inventive and entertaining way. I won’t give any plot spoilers, but it is certainly interesting and different from the movie.

When you have to kill the same terrorist twice in one week there’s either something wrong with your world or something wrong with your skills - and there’s nothing wrong with Joe Ledger’s skills. And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

Historia
We live in an age characterized by agitation and lack of peace. What must we do to overcome the moments of fear and distress which assail us? This is what is taught in this simple, yet profound little treatise on peace of head. Taking concrete examples from our everyday life, the author invites us to respond in a gospel fashion to the upsetting situations we must all confront. Since peace of heart is a pure gift of God, it is something we should seek, pursue, and ask him for without cease. This book is here to help us in that pursuit.

Jacques Philippe is the absolute best living Catholic writer with maybe the exception of Pope Benedict the XVI. Loved this book. The reader was good, but occasionally was a little distracting.
