Worthy Installment
Revisado: 07-05-23
While each book can be read standalone, you are better off reading the previous books before you pick this one up because it will feel richer if you do. The enemy is not someone new but we finally understand how they had their fingers in so many pies.
The two main characters pull an enemies to lovers trope off well, but again this is more enriched by having that knowledge from other books. This is not the first time they interact, but they have fought for years before this point. As they finally spend actual time with one another, their relationship changes and they learn what’s laying behind the ink and sequined tassels. This is a worthy contender for best book in the series.

Decent Set, Worth a Credit
Revisado: 07-01-23
I got this set during a 2 for 1 credit sale. I have already used a credit to get the 4th book as of writing this.
Book 1: Decent
Book 2: Great
Book 3: Stellar
1) I was not a big fan of the first book’s main characters. I have never rolled my eyes so hard while listening to a book. However, it was able to hook me by its overarching story and that’s sometimes all that’s needed. I think this book could be skipped. Each book is fairly stand alone, but you are better for having read/listened to them in order. I think Lexi was too childish and foolish in most of her decision making. Which is kind of funny because, April, in the next book, takes the crown for stupidest person ever. But I loved book 2.
2) the narrator or is very consistent with her voices so if you didn’t like April’s voice in book 1, you’re going to continue to hate it throughout the series. I didn’t hate her voice. I just hated her independence streak. The author does a great job of letting you know why she refuses to tell others she is in trouble or needs help, so it is never out of character when she tries to handle something by herself. She really only tells other people what her problems are when they are forced to be part of it. So realistically, all of April’s dumb choices made sense and it was a question of will she ever let someone in? I liked that about her book.
3) this is one where I was confused. Not in a bad way, but by chapter 10 I was scared the audiobook chapters were messed up because my girl was already in end of book style peril. This book does what book 1 doesn’t — give me a believable story about 2 people who love each other, didn’t know the other loved them back, and trying to figure out if they could or should navigate a relationship together going forward. I was not a fan of how long Izzy was on the “outs” with Jericho’s brothers or even why — but it did make sense and honestly helped me empathize with Izzy even more. 3 books in and she’s my favorite female character of the series.
Of the 3 books I would relisten to 3 and maybe 2 from time to time. Definitely not 1. I don’t mind groaning aloud when people make dumb choices. I appreciate a book that makes me actually laugh aloud. I do t even mind when books make me cry. But I dislike books that make me roll my eyes more than 5 times when tied to the main character.

Jenifer Lewis keeps it real in this provocative and touching memoir by a Midwestern girl with a dream whose journey from poverty to Hollywood will move, shock, and inspire listeners. Told in the audacious voice her fans adore, Jenifer describes a road to fame made treacherous by dysfunction and undiagnosed mental illness, including a sex addiction. Yet, supported by loving friends and strengthened by "inner soldiers", Jenifer never stopped entertaining and creating.

Amazing
Revisado: 05-15-23
From start to finish, Jennifer’s humor, cadence, growth, love, and pain is evident. It is refreshing to hear hear someone talk so candidly about the trials they overcame and are still working on. This book made me laugh. I think if I read it, I would have cried — but when Jennifer speaks, even through her pain, she softens her word in a way that still is a punch to the gut, but offers comfort for both herself and the listener.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Heartbreakingly Hilarious
Revisado: 02-21-23
I didn’t have cable growing up, but I knew about Nick and Disney shows. I didn’t really resonate with the young stars, but the few times I did catch an episode or clip of iCarly, Jeanette was the character I was most drawn to.
This book resonates with me because of her people pleasing tendencies, relationship with God and church, her loyalty, and her ability to finally find healing.
One of the better memoirs out there.

Historia
When Carrie Fisher recently discovered the journals she kept during the filming of the first Star Wars movie, she was astonished to see what they had preserved—plaintive love poems, unbridled musings with youthful naiveté, and a vulnerability that she barely recognized. Today, her fame as an author, actress, and pop-culture icon is indisputable, but in 1977, Carrie Fisher was just a teenager with an all-consuming crush on her costar, Harrison Ford.

I love Carrie
Revisado: 10-13-22
I have never laughed out loud so much while listening to or reading a book. Carrie is charismatic and brutally honest. She has no filter and no shame. It’s refreshing, it’s delightful, and you almost feel like your favorite aunt or godmother is giving you life advice (albeit from a famous perspective) on how we all do stupid things and all we can do is laugh at our foolishness.

Great Second Book
Revisado: 03-27-20
If the first book doesn't hook you, I think this one can. This gives us a deeper look into the pack now that we're not fully outsiders anymore. And it gives us a better look at the Psy since Sascha was not the greatest example given her designation. Faith is such a determined character that you can't help but root for her and hope that she is able to overcome her demons. Vaugh is also an interesting character who I feel we could have learned more about, even though we also saw a lot about him and the pack. Great second book and it's got me hooked.

Worth It
Revisado: 03-27-20
I absolutely love this series. That said, this wasn't quite what I expected it to be. I knew this was Season 2. But I was extremely thrown off by how the author was portraying different viewpoints. That wasn't what she had been doing for the first fifteen books that came before, but once I got the hang of that I was able to enjoy the story more. And then meeting the Bear pack was a lot of fun. I loved seeing new shifts, but there were just so many that I need to reread this story, not just listen.

A Little Slow for Me
Revisado: 03-19-20
So this is one of those stories that when it starts off, it starts off really well and should have you hooked. But it didn't do that for me until after the dire situation was over. But this story is a very good one. It looks at multiple perspectives while focusing on a main one--and it does it in such a way that you don't feel lost or annoyed by it, in my opinion. The background story is very interesting and compelling. You want good to win out and you want the characters to form that permanent connection that drew you into the series to begin with. And I definitely got that here.

Well Rounded Book
Revisado: 03-19-20
So this review is based off this book in conjunction with all the other books that come before it and without looking at it separately. This is a great installment in the series. It has very real responses of real-ish people. If you are at this book but haven't read any of the books that came before it, you will definitely be lost. This is a key story in the changing of the world as it has been portrayed in all the previous books. And it has a sweet love story with many laugh out loud moments even though it has some really dark themes and scenarios lurking in the background and brought to the fore. This is high on my list of books I love from this series.

Great Collection
Revisado: 03-11-20
From start of the stories to the end, I didn't want to put it down/stop reading.
Echo of Silence I think is just long enough that it works as a perfect novella that introduces you to characters that you can easily fall in love with.
Dorian works because by the time you've read this you've likely read enough books to know who Dorian is, his journey, and how he's overcome.
Partners in Persuasion and Flirtation of Fate are almost great. The problem with these two books is that you've somewhat met the characters involved but you don't know them well enough for you not be given the same kind of backstory/longish formula that Echo of Silence gave you. Instead, you get kind of a insta love story with barely anything to overcome in Partners and then insta-forgiveness in Flirtation that could be reasonable given the time frame, but by the same default could also be unreasonable if someone has held onto a grude for that long.
