I'm a big Gena Showalter fan and enjoying this new storyline. My only note would be that the narrator's male voice for Nicolai is a bit flat and devoid of emotion. Hopefully she will improve that as the series continues.

Loved the storyline and the narration. just wish this narrator and the Mercy Thompson books narrator would have established a pronunciation of Bran's title. In the Mercy books, it's like "moor-ROCK" and the A/O books he says it more like "MARE-ok". nothing horrible, just annoying after listening to all the Mercy books, first. Love love love Charles!!...and the way he is voiced here is perfect!

Just wow!!

A friend suggested these books to me a while back and I was thrilled to find them on audio as I rarely have time to read for fun. It was funny, sexy and I loved every minute. If you ever wanted to drop Stephanie Plum into the Otherworld you will love this book! Saucy, sassy and smart-mouthed, this well-meaning horny little witch makes for a fun heroine. The colorful cursing had me laughing out loud and adding new blue phrases to my repertoire. It's smart, silly, steamy and a great listen. Any McFadden did a wonderful job bringing the cast of characters to life. She'll be going on my short list of narrators to follow. Here's hoping we'll see the rest of this series on audio SOON!

Not an extension of Lords of the Underworld

While the author does use some familiar characters, this was not what I had expected as a follow-up series. The heat and the passion that made Lords one of my all-time favorite book series were not present here despite a lot of build-up to the scene of their claiming. instead, I felt like I was reading a YA version with extended descriptions of kissing, heavy petting, a little dry humping and then...there was only a passing statement of the event the first 2/3's of the book built up to. It would seem the author's personal religious revival has made it's way into her work only to leave dedicated adult fans of Lords like me overheated and frustrated. So if you read Lords for steam, keep looking elsewhere as the Sent Ones are lukewarm at best.

What did you like best about this story?

Continuation of the series - I hate to be left hanging, so come on, Sarah...you gotta have one more for us! Yes, I love series books and getting invested in the characters and combined story lines for the long haul. Hell's Eight has been a favorite and I'm hoping the author will favor us with another trip out with the boys. While this wasn't my favorite book of the series, I did enjoy it.

Don't know why this doesn't show up as part of the series in the catalog listing... Story line was true to the series although I wish there had been more exploration into the dominance/submission plotline as it could have played out in that time and locale. I get that 50 shades was the flavor of the day and this story takes a wispy pass at that, but it was not as deeply explored as some of the other aspects of the slightly edgier things that the men of Hell's Eight enjoy with their women. It is the raw intensity of the sexual exploration that hooked me on this series.

And even though there are only original boys of hell's eight - Tia needs a book, too!
