Historia
Two centuries after his death, Alexander Hamilton is shining once more under America's spotlight - and we need him now more than ever. Orphaned as a kid, this young, scrappy, and hungry self-starter came from nothing and then helped win the Revolutionary War, created the country's financial system, seduced New York's most eligible ladies, ratified the Constitution, and landed his face on our $10 bill. (In his spare time he also formed the Coast Guard and the US Mint.) He is the ultimate underdog.

Funny, educational, awesome
Revisado: 10-05-16
This is not my first Hamilton biography. And it probably won't be my last. But it is the funniest, the most memorable, and hands-down the best narrated. (I really can't say enough good things about the narrator--great tone, tempo, emotion). The author has a way of turning all of these stories I feel like I've heard a million times before into something funny. He obviously both loves and gently ribs Hamilton. It's a great balance. I also love the elements of Hamiltons 5x great grandson put in the book as well. All in all A+!!!

Historia
91 year-old Ira Levinson is kept concious after a car wreck by visions of his late wife, Ruth, who recounts stories of their lifetime together. A few miles away, at a local rodeo, Sophia Danko, a senior at Wake Forest, meets a young cowboy named Luke. Ira and Ruth. Sophia and Luke. Two couples who have little in common. Yet their lives will converge with unexpected poignancy, reminding us all that even the most difficult decisions can yield extraordinary journeys: beyond despair, beyond death, to the farthest reaches of the human heart.

Liked it very much
Revisado: 11-12-13
It was predictable in some places (saw the ending coming a mile away) and dull in others (Ira and Ruth at times omgosh), but it was heartwarming and definitely drove me to tears near the ending (predictable as I said, but poignant).

Historia
Wodehouse introduces us once again to the "wonder butler" Jeeves, who, as usual is able to solve any and all of Bertie Wooster's endless problems with ease and finesse. And he also introduces us to a character not dissimilar to Bertie . . . by name of Reggie. Such fun to follow Jeeves in the hijinks!

Hysterical
Revisado: 09-01-13
This collection of short stories really stands the test of time. While some of the dialogue is so dated as to be nearly unintelligible to modern ears ("cut up rough"?), you always get the gist and much of the story stands the test of time quite well. In addition, the narration itself was incredible.

Award-winning author, narrator, and screenwriter Neil Gaiman personally selected this book, and, using the tools of the Audiobook Creation Exchange (ACX), cast the narrators and produced this work for his audiobook label, Neil Gaiman Presents. In this exciting new "illuminated production", the author herself reads her own work, supported by a full cast.

Austen-esque tale (with swordfights!)

It was ok ... I guess
Revisado: 09-01-13
I guess I went into this expecting to be blown away (Neil Gaimon clearly adores it, after all), but it was rather underwhelming. The protagonist's utter mastery of the sword after what appears to be only a few weeks worth of lessons was odd to say the least, and some other characters seemed rather underdeveloped, particularly as relates to a love-story subplot that just seemed to be based on convenience and proximity of the lovers rather than true passion. It all felt pretty 'meh'.

Historia
Hailed as Charlotte Brontë’s “finest novel” by Virginia Woolf, Villette is the timeless semi-autobiographical tale of Lucy Snowe. Left with no family and no money, Lucy goes against her own timid nature and travels to the small city of Villette, France, where she becomes a school teacher in Madame Beck’s school for girls. During her stay, she falls in love—twice—and discovers an independent, inner strength rarely seen in women of her time.

I couldn't believe...
Revisado: 09-01-13
that I managed to finish this book. I couldn't believe it was finally over. I thought it would never end. It went on .. and on ... and ON ... with very little plot to boast of, and characterization alternatingly overly subtle, then hit-you-over-the-head-with-a-hammer. This book was a chore, and one I'm glad is done.

Few outsiders will ever witness the dark misdeeds of the Heavenly Host. And among this secret society, where exiled Georgian aristocrats gather to indulge their carnal desires, fewer still can match the insatiable appetite of their chief provocateur, the mysterious Viscount Rohan. Pursuit of physical pleasure is both his preferred pastime and his most pressing urge, until he encounters the fascination of a woman who won't be swayed.

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-01-13
Based on the other reviews, I was really expecting more from this book ... as in, a likeable (or even vaguely relatable) protagonist. Instead I spent hours with a snarky, obstinate, rude, nonsensical lead character who spewed vitriol at the well-intentioned characters trying to help her. I ended up rooting for the bad guy in the book, simply because he didn't like her, either.

In Northanger Abbey, a young woman's penchant for sensational Gothic novels leads to misunderstandings in the matters of the heart. Austen's first, this is considered by many to be among her most charming novels.

I couldn't even get through this ....
Revisado: 06-07-13
I was looking forward to an engaging rendition of the story, but the narration was AWFUL. The narrator spoke quickly, but extremely softly, as if she were trying to hurry through the narration as quickly as possible without waking someone sleeping in the other room. Raising the volume didn't help because she would occasionally punctuate with a loud word - this was not a good rendition. I clearly see why it is the least expensive one on here.
