Epic world
Revisado: 04-28-25
Epic concept and great actors to voice it. Overall the story arch is frustrating for an Island filled with a magical warrior history they sure make mistake after mistake. More time could have been spent on building the lore and world but it feels rushed to reach the demise of the realm. I might come back for book two but we will see..

if you like to be kicked when down.
Revisado: 09-03-24
This series has very good world building. But the author must get off on kicking the good guys when they are down. if you dont like a story where the "good" side can't catch a break and is constantly kicked when down then this is for you. I don't believe I will continue on with this series.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

i had high hopes after the first
Revisado: 11-18-23
the lack of character growth even after a year goes by "violence" does not mature or grow at all. still stuck with a immature youth. I get this series appeals to the 50 shades crowd but Come on we couldn't get a more mature MC by now? the constant self doubt and panic gets old.

Historia
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

It was alright
Revisado: 05-11-23
I picked this up after seeing it pop up on social media. Would I re buy it? No probably not. The main character is slow to mature and the author definitely dives into the rated R side of things that just take away from the main plot. I get having romance but this isn’t 50 shades of grey fantasy edition. I guess it’s what to expect when the main hero is a young woman. I would have enjoyed more world development and diving into what makes this world magic over the sex.

Another master piece! I do have to say though personally I cannot stand shallan I under stand the traumatic upbringing and multi personality disorder but I can’t stand how much of the story she hogs and the constant inner battles made it hard to get through without putting this on the back burner for other books.

This series I could not put down! Now I agree I think Zac is a piece of shit and this book does focus the majority on him but his arc in this book is well worth it and I’m excited to see it develop further. There are a few side stories that I just skipped but the world building and character development are very well done. Book three will be a day 1 purchase

Historia
The world fell, the invaders won, and demons now ruled what had once been man's domain. The great works of a once powerful civilization lie in ruins, its people having forgotten the wonders of their forefathers as they now live in the yoke. Not everyone is willing to go quietly into the endless night, however. Human pests still infest occasional parts of the conquered world. In one nearly uninhabitable part of that world, a very young such pest has come of age and, without understanding what it means, she walks in the shadow of destiny.

Waste of time

Way to many story plots going and unravel to be nothing. The author is all over the place and throws more and more in. At the end of the book it leaves you feeling lost with no character to follow.

Historia
Hunting monsters was supposed to be the hard part. When Joy came to Apex City, all she cared about was protecting the Cits from the dangers lurking outside protective barriers. She understood the need for the secrecy surrounding her hunts - no need to cause a panic by announcing just how real of a threat the Othersiders pose. But as she quickly discovered, the conspiracies of the city run much deeper. And a dangerous new covert mission leaves Joy with a target on her back once more.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-05-22
I am a huge fantasy fiction person. The first book drew me in checks almost all the box’s for what I enjoy and the story seems to progress nicely with character development.Elite though we don’t really see any personal growth joy is still the same self pity dim witted girl even though months have passed and she has taken on obstacles above her skill. We don’t get any sense of self courage and confidence she’s still a the doubting timid girl from the mountains. It’s also frustrating that certain key things don’t get explained or looked into any further by joy and she just goes back to her day to day. I plan on reading book three but I don’t have high hopes.
