Breathless and painstakingly researched, this is a stunning debut mystery in which Sherlock Holmes unmasks Jack the Ripper. Lyndsay Faye perfectly captures all the color and syntax of Conan Doyle’s distinctive nineteenth-century London.

Historia
This collection of short stories is a good example of early Wodehouse. It is here that Jeeves makes a brief first appearance with these unremarkable words: "Mrs. Gregson to see you, sir." Years later, when Jeeves became a household name, Wodehouse said he blushed to think of the off-hand way he had treated the man at their first encounter.

The incomparable Fredrick Davidson reading a Wodehouse classic
Revisado: 09-26-18
What a great surprise find! Clever humor in classic Wodehouse style, but it’s Fredrick Davidson’s reading that puts this in my list of among the best audio performances I’ve heard.

Historia
Is there a science to love? In this groundbreaking audiobook, psychiatrist and neuroscientist Amir Levine and psychologist Rachel S. F. Heller reveal how an understanding of attachment theory - the most advanced relationship science in existence today - can help us find and sustain love. Attachment theory forms the basis for many best-selling books on the parent/child relationship, but there has yet to be an accessible guide to what this fascinating science has to tell us about adult romantic relationships - until now.

Not really for everyone
Revisado: 07-19-17
This is not a critique of the reading, which was fine, but of the book itself. It purports to be about all attachment styles, but is really a handbook for anxious women in relationships with detached and unavailable men. Every once in a while the authors make an attempt to hide their scorn for those with an "avoidant" attachment style but it soon comes through again. I have a good friend who is stuck in the anxious-avoidant trap described here, and she might really get some value from this book. For the rest of us though, it's not a worthwhile read. This will be one of very few audiobooks I'll actually ask for my money back on.

an unexpected favorite
Revisado: 05-30-11
I hadn't heard of this book but I love Dickens and Frederick Davidson's narration. This was a great surprise - one of the best written books I've ever "read"...so many wonderful turns of phrase that I listened to it twice through in a row. The black-eyed Susan Nipper and the odious Major Babstock are unforgettable characters, portrayed in marvelous, loving detail. Frederick Davidson is always great but he outdid himself on this one with his distinct portrayals of both male and female, good and evil characters. A total pleasure!
