Historia
Late October 1909, and the season of ghouls and things that go bump in the night has descended on the village of Littleton Cotterell. Lady Hardcastle and her trusted lady’s maid, Florence, find themselves hosting a colorful cast of actors whose spooky moving picture, The Witch’s Downfall, is being shown to mark Halloween. But things take a macabre turn when the first night’s screening ends with a mysterious murder, and the second night with another. One by one the actors turn up dead in ways that eerily echo their film.

Revisado: 11-15-23
I don't like to read, but if a book catches me up in the story quickly I go on. The Lady Hardcastle stories have done just that. I have the series and hope for more!

Quit listening
Revisado: 10-17-23
I heard enough of the f-word that quit listening less than halfway through the book. Wasn’t laughing, wasn’t even smiling. Wouldn’t recommend the book.

Wish I’d read the reviews before buying
Revisado: 10-08-23
This story is about a very selfish, pathetic woman who leaves a trail of hurt people behind instead of facing life. I finished this book disappointed that she never grows up or looks back to see the people who love her in such pain! Not a book I’d recommend.

Historia
There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with listeners, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

Good read
Revisado: 01-10-23
I enjoyed what Michelle Obama has to say. I'm 70 years old and much of what she says and went through U can relate to in my life experiences. But how can she be so pro-equality, so for the marginalized and yet feel it's okay to eliminate the unwanted child! Killing any human being results in killing humanity.

Historia
You are a failed novelist about to turn 50. A wedding invitation arrives in the mail: Your boyfriend of the past nine years is engaged to someone else. You can't say yes - it would be too awkward - and you can't say no - it would look like defeat. On your desk are a series of invitations to half-baked literary events around the world. Question: How do you arrange to skip town? Answer: You accept them all.

Historia
Shelby works as a dog walker in northern California, and she’s just finished up her bi-weekly trip to the park with a husky named Pluto. When she brings him back to his house, she finds his owner - Todd Burke, a well-known local businessman and founder of an organic supplements company - lying on the bathroom floor, dead. A detective arrives on the scene. As she interviews Shelby, the body is inspected by a medical examiner, and more cops search Todd’s home, it becomes clear that the victim’s life was less picture-perfect than his clean-cut persona might lead you to believe.

Can't Say I Liked the End
Revisado: 01-25-22
Good story, but I would not recommend it to friends as it left me with a bit of a disappointed feeling. It was a good story, has a good twist, kept me listening to the end, but I didn't like the end.

Learn Why Catholics Do What They Do
Revisado: 11-10-21
This explains all those "weird" things Catholics do and why. Even more, Scott Hahn explains how they are tied to the Bible. I'd recommend this book to anyone wanting to know more about some of the Catholic practices we've all heard about.

My husband and I really enjoyed this book while on our long road trip. It's one you don't have to totally focus on, but keeps you wanting to "read" on. I would call it a good-read book.
