Historia
As a politician, John F. Kennedy crafted an image that inspired and thrilled millions - and left an outsize legacy after his tragic murder. Only a select inner circle was privy to the man behind Camelot. In Johnny, We Hardly Knew Ye, Kenneth P. O'Donnell and David F. Powers, two members of Kennedy's "Irish Mafia," give an unflinching, honest, and intimate portrayal of the Kennedy family and JFK's presidency.

I appreciate the true anecdotes shared by those who knew him and loved him. America lost one of its best because of a senseless crime.

Historia
General Sherman's 1864 burning of Atlanta solidified his legacy as a ruthless leader. Yet Sherman proved far more complex than his legendary military tactics reveal. James Lee McDonough offers fresh insight into a man tormented by the fear that history would pass him by, who was plagued by personal debts, and who lived much of his life separated from his family.

The story of Sherman is told honestly. He was not a perfect general but he was brave and fearless. He was a well trained officer and knew how to get the job.

Diana was a princess
Revisado: 12-16-23
I liked the authenticity. It was written with an understanding of who Diana really was. Like millions of others I truly felt a loss. She was a humanitarian that her sons are carrying forward in their mother’s name and in her spirit.

Historia
In the years after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, women in the workplace still found themselves relegated to secretarial positions or locked out of jobs entirely. This was especially true in the news business, a backwater of male chauvinism in which a woman might be lucky to get a foothold on the “women’s pages”. But when a pioneering nonprofit called National Public Radio came along in the 1970s and the door to serious journalism opened a crack, four remarkable women came along and blew it off the hinges.

Historia
With powerful narrative drive and vivid writing, Young Washington recounts the wilderness trials, controversial battles, and emotional entanglements that transformed Washington from a temperamental striver into a mature leader. Enduring terrifying summer storms and subzero winters imparted resilience and self-reliance, helping prepare him for what he would one day face at Valley Forge. Leading the Virginia troops into battle taught him to set aside his own relentless ambitions and stand in solidarity with those who looked to him for leadership.

Historia
Young George Washington was raised by a struggling single mother, demanded military promotions, caused an international incident, and never backed down - even when his dysentery got so bad he had to ride with a cushion on his saddle. But after he married Martha, everything changed. With irresistible style and warm humor, You Never Forget Your First combines rigorous research and lively storytelling that will have listeners - including those who thought presidential biographies were just for dads - inhaling every word.

A nice surprise for history lovers
Revisado: 06-16-22
When I started this book I didn’t know what to expect. We’ve all heard stories of how miserable conditions were at Valley Forge. But there is so much more in this book. We become better acquainted with George Washington and many of the men who fought with him as well as those who were opposed to his decisions and bitterly wrote about him. And the authors inform the reader how each one’s life ended whether successfully or in disgrace.
In addition the positions that Washington and Jefferson took relating to slavery and indigenous peoples were noted.
I recommend this book to you history lovers.
The reader’s voice is pleasant.

Historia
Henry Lee III - whose nickname, "Light-Horse," came from his legendary exploits with mounted troops and skill in the saddle - was a dashing cavalry commander and hero of America's War for Independence. By now most Americans have forgotten about Light-Horse Harry Lee, the father of Confederate general Robert E. Lee, but this new biography reveals he may be one of the most fascinating figures in our nation's history. A daring military commander, Lee was also an early American statesman whose passionate argument in favor of national unity helped ratify the Constitution.

The life of Henry Lee provides another perspective of the Revolutionary War. The author did a good job of linking Henry’s son Robert to what his dad had done.

Historia
Thomas Jefferson and the Marquis de Lafayette shared a singularly extraordinary friendship, one involved in the making of two revolutions - and two nations. Jefferson first met Lafayette in 1781, when the young French-born general was dispatched to Virginia to assist Jefferson, then the state’s governor, in fighting off the British. The charismatic Lafayette, hungry for glory, could not have seemed more different from Jefferson, the reserved statesman.
