Good storyline. Excellent narrator
Revisado: 01-11-25
Interesting story from start to finish.. Character development was excellent. At no point did I correctly predict the culprit. Caroline Lee is one of my most favorites narrators! I will read more Anni Taylor books!

Historia
Alex Armstrong has changed everything about herself—her name, her appearance, her backstory. She’s no longer the terrified teenager a rapt audience saw on television, emerging in handcuffs from the quiet suburban home the night her family was massacred. That girl, Alexandra Quinlan, nicknamed Empty Eyes, was accused of the killings, fought to clear her name, and later took the stand during her highly publicized defamation lawsuit that captured the attention of the nation. It’s been ten years since, and Alex hasn’t stopped searching for answers about the night her family was killed.

Enjoyed the book, but...
Revisado: 11-09-24
Every Chapter beginning with the date and time was annoying. Felt like a test. Something I needed to remember that was mostly unnecessary. I don't like the jumping back and forth in books, but other than that I LOVED this book! I was rewarded with an ending I NEVER saw coming. A most welcomed surprise. I had to go back and listen to parts again to see where/how I missed knowing how this would end. I highly recommend if you can deal with the back and forth in time to include both days and years.

In and out of hospitals since birth, angelic nine-month-old Morgan Reid finally succumbed to what appeared to be sudden infant death syndrome. Morgan's Texas-born mother, Tanya, a nurse and devoted wife, pulled up stakes with her grieving husband, Jim, and moved on. It was the best way to put the past behind them. As they do each June, the Foxes have driven the winding roads of Appalachia to drop off their children for a two-week stay at their grandmother’s. Here, twelve-year-old Thea can run free and breathe in the smell of pine. But as her parents head back to suburban Virginia, they have no idea they’re about to cross paths with a ticking time bomb. Enjoyed the storyline/plot, which was original and interesting. I loved all but one of the characters. The main focus was on the family and friend relationships which honestly were too good to be true; but hey, who isn't looking for happy well-adjusted intelligent people to surround themselves with! Highly recommend this book!

Kind of dumb

Mildly entertaining, but not at all believable. It was nearly impossible to determine when the characters changed. The "birth defect" was just stupid. Sorry. There is no such thing.

Historia
Ever since I met my handsome husband Dr Gabe Bonneville, I started playing the role of the perfect housewife. He works hard as a surgeon, so I look after our home, and throw elaborate dinner parties with champagne cocktails for his best friends Hugh and Anita. He’s my safe place and my chance to have the family I’ve always wanted. I’ve managed to hide the mornings when I wake up and see a face in the shadows. I haven’t told Gabe the truth about the woman who raised me, or told him about the therapy I’ve been getting so my secrets stay hidden in the dark.

The storyline was interesting and with the right narrator this book would have been better. The male narrator simply did not do female voices well. It was very confusing, and frankly annoying.

This book taught me so much!
Revisado: 02-25-24
I was a young woman during the Vietnam, when many Americans were so against the war they turned on our soldiers. Though I knew no-one that went off to war, I gathered friends together for trips to the local airports to greet and welcome home our soldiers as they arrived home.. I dated a few Vietnam vets which I didn't understand at the time. They turned to drugs and alcohol, I could not go there with them. I fully understand them now, and wish I could have helped them with what I now recognize as PTSD.
My father fought in WWII. I more fully understand what my mother meant when she told me he came back from the war "changed". Not the same man that went off to war. He NEVER talked about what he had seen. Never. After he died, I read some of this diaries from the war. What he had seen was heart wrenching. I just wish he had talked about it. I'm sure he didn't know how... Instead he sought refuge in the bottle which let him to destroy our family. He needed help no one knew how to give... He died at only age 59, which was all related to his alcoholism. I wish I had known then what I know now...

Cheesy with a CAPITAL C
Revisado: 02-25-24
I tried to like this book, but finally just stopped wasting my time! The storyline is weak at best. The main characters are unlikable and stupid. Not even interesting enough to stick with the book expecting there would eventually be some redeeming qualities. It was the typical weird love story, and I use the term "love" lightly, where the guy and gal are contemptuous upon first meeting and fight all the time, then become passionate lovers. The woman was weak in too many ways. The guy, although an alpha male which I generally prefer, was actually a controlling pig. The sex scenes were gross, and I am no prude. Just leave something to the imagination and skip all crude adjectives. Perhaps if I liked the characters it would not have turned me off like it did. If you like lots of trash talk in the bedroom, women with no backbone, and men who love to dominate weak women, this may be the book for you!

Historia
The Myth of You and Me, the story of Cameron and Sonia's friendship, as intense as any love affair, and its dramatic demise, captures the universal sense of loss and nostalgia that often lingers after the end of an important relationship. Searingly honest, beautiful, and full of fragile urgency, The Myth of You and Me is a celebration and portrait of a friendship that will appeal to anyone who still feels the absence of that first true friend.
