Historia
As the day dawns on the fiftieth annual Hunger Games, fear grips the districts of Panem. This year, in honor of the Quarter Quell, twice as many tributes will be taken from their homes. Back in District 12, Haymitch Abernathy is trying not to think too hard about his chances. All he cares about is making it through the day and being with the girl he loves.

No point to this book.
Revisado: 04-06-25
The ending way too depressing with repetitive lyrical sections that became irritating. We already knew the ending of this hunger games from the original trilogy. and of course we know Haymitch doesn't die. At least with the first prequel Sunrise on the Reaping it gave a fresh perspective from the capital and Snow point of view which was interesting. but this felt way too familiar from the start. Nothing fresh or new or different. And then the ending is just unremittingly depressing. Way too many contrived or even perfunctory scenes during the hunger games leading to death here and there with hardly any meaning at all. I don't think this book should've been written. It adds nothing to the franchise and fails to rekindle any of the magic from the original hunger games. No surprises, no romance, no future. No nothing. Bleak.

Historia
Gil Patterson is a woman familiar with dark stories. As a student of medieval history, she knows the Crusades, the Black Death, and the horrors of life in the Middle Ages. But it is another kind of darkness has begun to stalk her dreams: when she falls asleep she sees forces of evil assaulting a beleaguered kingdom, whose kind people are on the brink of annihilation, and awakes each morning in a cold sweat.

Historia
On Earth, political tensions boil over between the United Americas, Union of Progressive Peoples, and Three World Empire. Conflict spreads to the outer fringes, and the UK colony of New Albion breaks with the Three World empire. This could lead to a Colony War. Trapped in the middle are journalist Cher Hunt, scientist Chad McLaren, and the synthetic Davis. Cher, seeking to discover who caused the death of her sister, Shy Hunt, uncovers a far bigger story. McLaren’s mission, fought alongside his wife, is to stop the militarization of the deadliest weapon of all—the Xenomorph.

more than a few head scratching plot twists and turns made this a weaker story than it might otherwise have been. Not nearly as good as the Alex white alien novels, which I highly recommend. fantastic narrator.

Good but could have been great.

interesting ending. Look forward to the follow on books in the arc. So far aside from the first and second movies, the best alien stories I've read are the Cold Forge and the following book by the same author, Into Charybdis. This book was good but I had the feeling often of having been there and done that. And the bad guy wasn't that bad.

There are three kinds of feelings when reading a story: boredom, interest, and wow! To become a successful writer, you must create the wow feeling on as many pages as possible, and this requires writing that engages the reader emotionally. In his best-selling book, screenwriter Karl Iglesias explored the working habits of A-list Hollywood scribes. Now, he breaks new ground by focusing on the psychology of the reader.

Should simply Read the Book
Revisado: 02-17-24
information is overly basic and introductory. Even waste time on incredibly introductory topics such as what is a theme. What is the plot etc. it gets very irritating hearing him say "OK" all the time and "ah" all the time during these seminars. The author should simply have read in a professional and concise manner the book when he was ready to release it. Also I agree with others who have said that he needlessly standardizes on the masculine. yes it's easier to say he instead of he and she, but of course he could simply say he sometimes and then other days say she for the session and then it's balanced and just as easy.

First 2/3 tedious but final 1/3 good.
Revisado: 02-25-23
Loved first two books but this one was more mixed especially the first 2/3 which was tedious due to the chopped up timeline and multiple points of view that resulted in many repetitions of facts which were already known. Also not much really happens in the book. It lacks narrative movement. The stakes never built up and the fictional reality felt too passive and summarized. Not his best work.
