Historia
Things are a little different in Aspen, Colorado, at the office holiday party for the real estate firm owned by Henry Calhoun and his wife, Claudine. Each Christmas sparks a contest among the already competitive staff to see who can buy the most coveted gift: the one that will get stolen the most times, the one that will prove just how many more commissions they earned that year than their colleagues. Everyone is puzzled when a strange gift shows up in the mix: an antique cowboy statue. In fact, the gift makes sense only to Henry and Claudine.

Boring and repetitive
Revisado: 11-27-17
This book is exhausting for me. Truly not sure if I can finish listening to it. I no longer have much interest in the ending. Maybe if I were a teenager I would enjoy it more. The theme is repeated over and over and over. It is a love triangle. I shouldn't feel this, I do feel this, I shouldn't feel this, I do feel this, etc. Over and over. Not enough depth for me.

Historia
One unexpected and hotly fought-over little boy, two dead bodies, and a series of home vandalisms throw Texas attorney turned island chanteuse Katie Connell into a tizzy. Juggling all of this, Bloody Mary cravings, baggage, and the bad guys too, she waffles between the jumbie house that brought her back from the brink and the man she believes is the love of her life.

Disliked main character intensely.
Revisado: 01-24-16
What disappointed you about Leaving Annalise?
Shallow
What was most disappointing about Pamela Fagan Hutchins’s story?
Character was a stupid dislikable idiot most of the time unless the story needed her to suddenly see the obvious to move the story along.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ashley Ulery?
I read the first book and listened to the second. I think the inflections of the reader weakened the main character.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Leaving Annalise?
How does a "brilliant" investigator get scammed over and over? Why kill the sister?

predictable romance novel
Revisado: 07-09-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Characters with depth.
A plot that was not 100% predictable.
Well-written dialogue.
Less insulting to women.
What was most disappointing about Christina Dodd’s story?
Typical insulting book to women. Main female character is brilliant, top of her class at a prestigious university and the most beautiful woman one could imagine. Whoops. Turns out she is stupid throughout the book. Truly idiotic. Everyone has probably read this book before. Just change the names. Absolutely no surprises except how dumb they made her.
Did Amanda Ronconi do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Boring characters. Cookie cutter.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Sadness that this could be published.
Any additional comments?
Even at $4.00 it is a waste of money. But if you love those tabloids, you may love this.

Predictable.Needs editing.
Revisado: 03-11-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
If I sat down and read this book, it would be a waste of time. Listening to it while doing another activity, it is engaging. I think it would be a better book if it were edited. And like many books today, they cannot make the bad people bad enough. The mantra of evil is tiresome. The outcome is fairly obvious from the beginning. Some good character developments. Some ridiculous situations. Overall OK book. Keeps one's attention while driving or gardening. Another book that feels written in the hope of being picked up by a studio and turned into an action movie.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
I enjoyed the main character. A feisty street woman that finds a mission and need in her life.
Which character – as performed by Tom Stechschulte – was your favorite?
I liked the characters developed as the "good people". The bad people are the same as so many evil, bad characters. Never a bit evil. Just downright horrible.

SO AWFUL
Revisado: 06-14-11
This book was so bad it became funny. Narration is not good. But since the writing is shallow, predictable, preachy, trite and has boing characters, I am not sure possible to narrate this book into a pleasant experience. The main characters are so unlikeable that you just do not care. Sorry I wasted my money. This book should appeal to morons.
