This reading was as good as if I was reading it to my children - very emotive. It’s clear the wonderful voice actress cared deeply.

The title “Big Black Box of Doom” initially had me bracing for Jason’s signature sci-fi horror elements, but what I discovered instead was an unexpectedly profound and intimate narrative that caught me completely off guard.

The story weaves through everyday moments with such careful attention to detail and human complexity that I found myself completely invested in the characters’ lives.

The author’s wit shines through in the most unexpected places, drawing genuine laughs while simultaneously delivering moments of deep contemplation. The characters are crafted with such authenticity that closing the book felt like saying goodbye to friends I’d known for years.

Their struggles, triumphs, and quiet moments of reflection stayed with me long after I turned the last page.

While this marks a significant departure from the author’s usual genre, the change in direction showcases his versatility as a writer. This isn’t a tale of cosmic horror or supernatural suspense - it’s a beautifully observed slice of life that explores the profound within the mundane. The “doom” in the title might mislead horror fans, but the story’s emotional depth and character development more than make up for any genre expectations.

Book about racism from the perspective of a racist

“I don’t know why she likes me” says Junie “Ellen” Inez - in reference to Athena “Tahani” Estelle

It’s a book about a racist woman who lives in a world of liberals who don’t know they are racist - who refuses to listen, feels entitled, and is a self destructive excuse machine.

I despise this character and it’s all told from her way of way of being. Here’s an example: trying to get to know any Asian person she goes to a soup ball shop in China town and acts like the idea of a soup ball is sickening; same when she’s a guest of honor and served Chinese food…

So… I’d you think encountering the chronically online liberal racist who refuses to listen that exists within your horizon of meaning: enjoy!

I was unable to put it down.

Very good audio and thoughts

This books audio quality is very high. The preview on Amazon was a very low quality and did not reflect the very high-quality of the actual product. The information in the book helps outline how one, without any political leanings, can engage different communities and diverse ways of seeing the world.

It is critical of the parts of the right that are against inclusion and highly critical of the parts of the left that are for insular exclusion.

I’m already using things I’ve got from this book in my course on management, my course on entrepreneurship, and my wife is using it as a textbook in her course on diversity leadership.

Are you new to being a philosopher? What do you mean you aren’t a philosopher, I seriously doubt that you are looking at this review and are anything but a lover of knowledge. But are you interested in understanding the question “what is it to live a good life?” This book won’t give you the answer, nor will it disclose to you new truth, but it will help you see that you’ve always been a philosopher, and help illuminate a long history of people seriously interested in finding truth.

This book is short history of philosophy bound in a bag of tales.

A good start, but find a business professor

While the text consistently indicates the importance of validated learning and avoiding vanity metrics, how to undertake validated learning is often missing. I highly recommend finding a business professor to work with if you are interested in enacting the opportunities in this book.

Additionally, the greater reasons driving "lean" thinking are understated. If you would like to read the same thing but better read "Innovation and Entrepreneurship", if you would like something more actionable read "Disciplined Entrepreneurship".i assign all three books in my course on Ent. Management.

Good enough for marketing tech

While ignorant of some of the most important and actionable research in entrepreneurship, and focused around tech advances that don't cause too many waves, it is good enough for someone seeking an outline of reverse-value-chain marketing (marketing that starts with end-use and works its way back to the creation of the product).
