Historia
Dolly Faulkner has many heart-stopping moments of terror and anxiety, living much of the time truly alone in the Alaskan wilderness. But she is not lonely, as the awesome space and beauty of the mountains fill her with appreciation of all things of nature. Dolly Faulkner came to Alaska as a young woman with the dream of living in the wilderness. Forty Years in the Wilderness is a true reality of carving out a homestead in the Kilbuck Mountains near a minor hotsprings that the regional Native corporation is now trying to claim.

I couldn't get past the abuse.
Revisado: 07-25-24
Harry is an abusive chauvinistic evil man. He makes Dolly do all the work, doesn't pay her a dime from the business, forces his three children he'd previously abandoned on her. He orders her around. Let's his kids run all over her. She's afraid of him and hides simple mistakes from him. He dumped his 8 year old boy into a frozen lake for peeing the bed. I'd love to hear about her life in Alaska but I couldn't get through it. She seems like a nice woman but I can't condone taking that abuse from a man.

Historia
Molly Appleby has promised her new husband that their honeymoon will be trouble-free - specifically, no sleuthing. Unfortunately, trouble seems to follow Molly wherever she goes, even to England. After a glorious week in London, the newlyweds have escaped the city to visit Molly's great-aunt in the quaint English village of Marlow Crossing. The setting is idyllic, as beautiful and serene as Molly could hope for, but, as the senior staff writer for Collector's Weekly knows, appearances can be deceiving.

The narrator was too sultry and overdramatic. It was hard to take. I agree with the other review about the political agenda thrown in for no reason. The main character comes off as a nosey hypocrite.

I didn't expect to like it so much. It was clever and funny. My only complaint is that the main character used the word "tummy" about a million times. It was childish and odd.

In illusion town the thrills are real.
Revisado: 07-30-16
If you are a JAK fan you should enjoy the book. There are a lot of throw back references to past books. The idea of Illusion town was cool. The story keeps you interested but the end does feel a little rushed.
