Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

Amazing
Revisado: 05-16-24
Another amazing story by Kristin Hannah. Fascinating history incorporated into Frankie’s story, told really well by Julia Whelan. I cried so hard at the devastation and am angry for all The Women who served without recognition. THIS is what books are for.

Didn’t care for this one
Revisado: 03-30-24
I liked the concept of the story based on the description but this was a DNF for me. Dunn’s narration for Iris was difficult to follow - the singsongy pitch variation and very precise diction was all I could focus on. I tried forwarding to the next chapter and Dolan’s narration was better but the story just couldn’t hold my attention. It was like the author was getting paid to advertise products. Not my kind of listen.

Historia
Told primarily through conversations, The Tuesday Girl is raw, witty, emotional, and ultimately inspirational. Tanya takes the listener on intimate dates, walks with friends, and conversations with people in her life. She falls in love with someone who she is certain is different from anyone she’s ever met, only to discover that he is a conman. Through it all, she relies on her friend Erin and learns that romance isn’t something that just happens in books—it’s something that runs throughout your own life.

Uplifting memoir
Revisado: 10-07-23
What a great listen! It’s a very relatable memoir for women starting over. I found myself saying “That happened to you too?!” more than once. Eby’s narration was raw and unapologetic and peppered with humor. And yes, everyone needs a chin-up, tits-out friend like Erin in their life.

Thirty years ago, Wilde was found as a boy living feral in the woods, with no memory of his past. Now an adult, he still doesn't know where he comes from, and another child has gone missing. No one seems to take Naomi Pine's disappearance seriously, not even her father - with one exception. Hester Crimstein, a television criminal attorney, knows through her grandson that Naomi was relentlessly bullied at school. Hester asks Wilde - with whom she shares a tragic connection - to use his unique skills to help find Naomi.

Revisado: 01-09-23
Wow. Love Harlan Coben’s twists. At first I wasn’t sure where things were going and just when I thought I had it figured out, I quickly found out I was wrong! The end blew my mind. The narrator was good, I loved how he portrayed Hester’s voice and attitude. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

Historia
When experienced homicide detective Casey Duncan first moved to the secret town of Rockton, she expected a safe haven for people like her, people running from their past misdeeds and past lives. She knew living in Rockton meant living off the grid completely: no cell phones, no Internet, no mail, very little electricity, and no way of getting in or out without the town council's approval. What she didn't expect is that Rockton comes with its own set of secrets and dangers.

Can't get enough of this series
Revisado: 12-27-22
This is an excellent police thriller. Just like the first book, I thought I had it all figured out and then the author goes and throws me for a loop, and not just once! I love the concept of the town of Rockton, and am really enjoying the series so far. The narrator is excellent and really brings the book to life. Will definitely listen to the next book.

Good detective mystery with a twist
Revisado: 12-27-22
This was a good detective mystery with a few twists I didn't see coming. And the end! That kind of ending is what I live for. The narrator was enjoyable to listen to, but sometimes she overly-stressed the consonants like "T" on the end of words, which took me out of the story a bit, but otherwise spot on. I'll be sure to listen to the next book in the series.

When Jenny inherits her estranged grandmother’s cottage in Sherwood Forest, she has nothing to lose - no money, no job, no friends, no family to speak of, and zero self-respect. Things can only get better.... Her grumpy but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting. Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas.

Cute and Amusing
Revisado: 12-27-22
This was a cute romance full of fun and quirky characters. The main story was predictable but the side characters and their stories made the listen enjoyable. The narrator was excellent and had a wonderful sense of comedic timing. I laughed aloud more than a few times. Although not specifically a Christmas story, the theme was definitely heartwarming and in the Christmas spirit.

Good twisty and creepy psych thriller
Revisado: 10-31-22
I love Catherine Steadman's writing and narration. The story was unique and like all of her previous books I never suspected what she reveals at the end, and THAT is what I love about her writing. Her narration is calm and cool, just above a whisper, which always pulls me in to make sure I don't miss something crucial. Doesn't matter, I always miss it anyway. Am looking forward to the next one!
