The story was very good but the narration was rich, thick, and delicious. I could hear the emotion. I believed the accents. I invested in the characters. When I listen to a novel I like to allow myself to get swept away with the tale. To avoid analyzing the reality or feasibility of this and that. It’s not always easy but this story did that. I’m glad I did not let this book go unnoticed.

Im glad i did not give into the reviews about the narrator. It was not the best narration but it did not ruin the book. I have not listen to all the Harry Bosch books but have listen to a lot of them. This was one of the best. The story was excellent. I would have given it a 5 except I thought the part of the book dealing with the problems in his person life were not up to par with the rest of the story. Overall you will not be disappointed.

Any additional comments?

we listen to novels with the hope the author and narrator will create a story we cannot resist. I always read reviews of the novels but seldom write one. I could not let this book go without convincing the next perspective listener to choose it. No superheroes in this story. Terribly flawed characters who bring an interesting and stimulating journey. The narration was excellent. This is that book your friends will tell you about and can't stop talking about.

Would you try another book from Paula Hawkins and/or the narrators?

Maybe, narration was very good

Has The Girl on the Train turned you off from other books in this genre?

No

Any additional comments?

The same paranoia for the lead character was repeated and repeated. I got it the first 20 times. She a drunk and her memories get confused. That is the entire theme of the story.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was an interesting change to the tough guy, hero, type of cop story. This was a struggling. damaged, ordinary guy. He did nothing superhero. The real story here was not about finding the bad guys, which was done well. It was the story of the main character and the relationship between he and his dog. Neither of which wanted to be where they were when their relationship starts. They story provides an interesting twist when the narration becomes from the "first person" dog's view. I though some of that was a little repetitive, but a small criticism of a very good story done quite well.

What other book might you compare Kill Shot to and why?

Night Fall by DeMille because it was a great story, held my interest through the entire book. Multiple interesting story lines that were relevant to each other without loosing the main story line. The narration was excellent.

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Mr Guidall is a pleasure to listen to. He IS Mitch Rapp. When I listened to a different narrator read one of the Rapp series I was very disappointed.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy the Rapp stories. Unfortunately it is easy to see the formula for each book. Even so this story was great. It did not drift off to fill space. I have not enjoyed a book this much in quite a while. I have about 300 books in my audible library. This is is the top 10 to 15. Thank you !

Good--Not his best

Total

I have listened to all of Demille's books, and listen to many more narrations by Scott Brick just because I like his narration. I also enjoy the Cory character. However this book went on a little long without enough substance. I love the sarcastic wit but it became a little weak. Kate was a very weak caracter. I am using a very high standard to judge this book because I have come to expect the best from DeMille. With that said this was an enjoyable book. I am glad I listened, and I was looking forward to another John Cory story. This story just took a little luster off the John Cory legacy.

The Vanished Man Audiolibro Por Jeffery Deaver arte de portada

too much misdirection

Total
3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 09-28-06

The theme to this novel was to teach the reader as much about magic as possible. This is necessary so Deaver can force feed unbelieable and excessive references to misdirections. I enjoyed most of the story but it got bogged down in misdirections about misdirections. The reader actually looses track of the story. I listened to Cold Moon and it also has many plot twists, however, it seem to stay focused on the storyline. I listened to the Vanished Man at the direction of a respected co-worked who liked the novel. I did not dislike it but I was let down due to the potential the story seemed to develope. If you enjoy an adult cartoon, this story is not too bad. If you like fiction but don't like your intellegence insulted, you might find this novel the vanished story.

Tremendous Storytelling

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 08-07-06

It is hard to describe a story so well written and narration this tremendous. I was swallowed up and could not wait for each time that I slipped back into the tale. The narration was so amazing that I would like to listen to another book by this narrator to see if this story was just perfect for him or is he that good with any story. There were no extremes or excesses that are hard to believe. The caracters were real and their emotions were palpable. I am sorry it is over
