Historia
In Consilience (a word that originally meant "jumping together"), Edward O. Wilson renews the Enlightenment's search for a unified theory of knowledge in disciplines that range from physics to biology, the social sciences and the humanities. Using the natural sciences as his model, Wilson forges dramatic links between fields. Presenting the latest findings in prose of wonderful clarity and oratorical eloquence, and synthesizing it into a dazzling whole, Consilience is science in the path-clearing traditions of Newton, Einstein, and Richard Feynman.

Eye-opening wake up call for a moderate conservative!
Revisado: 03-01-25
Wilson appears to make every attempt to be balanced in his argument. The union of the natural sciences and humanities is a difficult thesis but he is up to the task. You need to brace yourself for a genuinely academic presentation, hard to follow at times, but a rewarding experience in the end.

Historia
Physics has always been engaged in the pursuit of expanding our knowledge of the nature of matter and the world around us. But how can you use experiments to further this quest? How do you measure the mass of a particle a trillion times smaller than a grain of sand? And, finally, why is all this important? In The Matter of Everything, accelerator physicist Suzie Sheehy introduces us to the people who, through a combination of genius, persistence and luck, staged the experiments that changed the course of history.

Historia
Everyone would benefit from seeing further into the future, whether buying stocks, crafting policy, launching a new product, or simply planning the week's meals. Unfortunately, people tend to be terrible forecasters. As Wharton professor Philip Tetlock showed in a landmark 2005 study, even experts' predictions are only slightly better than chance. However, an important and underreported conclusion of that study was that some experts do have real foresight.

Big liberal bias
Revisado: 05-29-22
Basic material was informed and intellectually useful.
Author unfortunately let his strong political bias shape his storytelling. All Democrats are made out to be intelligent rational leaders while Republicans are portrayed as arrogant and incapable of office. He needs to follow his own advice regarding balance.
