The utter stupidity of the protagonist
Revisado: 04-01-25
In spite of finding the protagonist a very stupid and jnplausible character I have listened to the first 16 books in the collection for background sound as I house clean. The story has some interesting aspects. There are a wide diversity of personalities and characters. But I do find it incredible the poor self preservation mindset of the main character. She always is alone and she actually actively accuses the murderer of committing the murder. Most normal people would get away as silently and quickly as possible or not accuse the murderer of committing the crime when totally alone with him (or her)….

Too graphic for me. Not a romance but porn for women (or men too?). 15 word limit met?

Historia
John’s Gospel, from the widely acclaimed modern literary classic The New Testament in Scots is now available as an audio digital download for the first time. Tom Fleming's reading brings out the poetry, wit and humanity of William Lorimer's translation in a way which speaks to everyone. Lorimer (1885-1967) immersed himself in the Scots language from childhood, learning the rich Angus dialect of his locality. He devoted the last decade of his life to translating the New Testament into Scots.

It’s a blessing to be able to hear the Gospel in a native language! The reading was clear, a perfect pace. Very well done.

Having only one or two or three of the 8 or so episodes of each story available.
Revisado: 02-15-24
DISLIKED having, for example, only episodes 1,6,7,8 of the 8 total episodes in “Call for Paul Temple”. There isn’t one complete story available - just random episodes of each story. WASTE OF TIME.

Historia
Goldy Bear is the bright, opinionated, wildly inventive caterer whose personal life is a recipe for disaster, with bills taking a bite out of her budget and her abusive ex-husband making tasteless threats. Determined to take control, Goldy moves her business to the ritzy Aspen Meadow Country Club. Soon she’s preparing decadent dinners and posh society picnics—and enjoying the favors of Philip Miller, a handsome local shrink, and Tom Schulz, her more-than-friendly neighborhood cop.

Excellent narrator. Most irritating, whining, foolish heroine.
Revisado: 02-11-24
I loved the narration. The plot is fairly good - I couldn’t come up with a better one which is why I’m not an author! But the heroine of the book is the most whining, bitchy, complaining character. If this was real life, I’d avoid her like the plague.

Great recipes and narration. Protagonist is a royal whiner and bitchy as all get out.
Revisado: 01-27-24
I read all her books decades ago and have just listened to them in audible format. The narrator is very good. The plots are clever. The protagonist, Goldie Bear is beyond a whiner, bitchy, unlikable heroine. I remember enjoying those books a long time ago and now wonder why. Goldie totally annoys with the complaining, her frantic worrying and then going into danger in such an unbelievably naive, unwise, foolish way….. But the books are
‘Free” in my membership plan and I, a sucker for long book series. I put them on to fall asleep to at night…….

Delightful!
Revisado: 06-25-23
We’ll-crafted story with characters richly described. One gets to truly “know” the characters. The plot is complex. The different personalities are endearing. I hope there will be dozens of more books so I can enjoy the antics and adventures these old folks get up to.

Historia
In this revolutionary book, renowned physician Gabor Maté eloquently dissects how in Western countries that pride themselves on their healthcare systems, chronic illness and general ill health are on the rise. Nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug; more than half take two. In Canada, every fifth person has high blood pressure. In Europe, hypertension is diagnosed in more than 30 percent of the population. And everywhere, adolescent mental illness is on the rise. So what is really “normal” when it comes to health?

Wanted to like it
Revisado: 01-09-23
A naval gazing type book where the author constantly discusses his own “trauma” ie being an infant during wartime- an experience he doesn’t remember. He plays more off emotional theory than actual data or science. Such as women that get Botox can’t understand their babies emotions which is just plain stupid and is just his assumption rather than a fact. Would not recommend.

At first I HATED the sound effects but soon found They faded into the background as was a very soft enhancement.
As usual, the story and characters were engrossing. I love Beatons development of her characters
