Forsyth's detailed expedition into the plot's underbelly makes the fantastic relatable and seemingly verifiable. Many novels skip over the minutiae supposing them trifle insignificant aspects, but Forsyth's attention to detail gives the story authenticity--at least more than modern novels.
The characters are interesting and believable.
The time setting is comfortable, and Forsyth provides enough information to conjure images of the various settings and props.

Data is helpful and the convenience of an audio book was what I needed. Would be better to streamline the information: fewer words. Also, the mouth noises, swallowing, clicking, etc., were a bit distracting.

Slow to Max

The book is a slow build. This is because the story focuses on Harden's deep-seated psychological condition. It works its way out and ends in a perfect spall storm of blood and bits. The read is good to go. Sam's narrative arch is developing nicely. I appreciate an author who is capable of balancing metaphors and similes with sight-picture and sight-alignment. Looking forward to the next installment.

Attention to detail and gritty action

Molles is the best author on the market. His attention to detail and portrayal of gritty realism drive his stories to a relatable extension of reality. As always, Rummel does an excellent job bringing life and personality to the characters. Great match. Hope they keep it up.

Redemption Tale

The subject matter hits at the heart of what most men want. Men want their families to healthy, happy and comfortable. Modern thought intimates this is a result of the generational and cultural conditioning of modern middle-aged men, but I believe this desire is a basic design attribute. Providing for and protecting our families is what men do.

Racist and senseless

In what world does using a word deserve an ambush and beat-down? Blindsiding and beating a man senseless is justifiable, but using an unpopular word is not? It does not make sense. Furthermore, when the lead proclaimed other such racial words were forbidden, he failed to forbid any racially charged words referring to white people.
Nothing about the hotel community made sense. From the assignment of tasks to the currency system, these entities can exist only in fiction.

I enjoy the personalized stories, but the container homes lost me. Anyone with any construction, architectural or engineering experience knows the amount of labor involved in converting a container to a home. Folks would use stick framing on cinder block foundations. This would take less time and effort and would provide better dwelling. The story and characters are enjoyable but the conx home arc broke the fantasy for me.
The car chase at the end is way over the top. The amount of resources, fuel and effort for such is incongruent with the aftermath of the flare and subsequent plague.

Difficult to put down

This is an interesting take on a socially and politically subdued U.S. The action is thrilling and I care what happens to the characters. Best metaphors, similes and analogies in the game. Good work.
