Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Good story annoying lead
Revisado: 07-02-23
I found the story and the science so interesting but that main character… he got so annoying after a while.

Historia
It's the last day of 1984, and 85-year-old Lillian Boxfish is about to take a walk. As she traverses a grittier Manhattan, a city anxious after an attack by a still-at-large subway vigilante, she encounters bartenders, bodega clerks, chauffeurs, security guards, bohemians, criminals, children, parents, and parents to be in surprising moments of generosity and grace. While she strolls Lillian recalls a long and eventful life that included a brief reign as the highest paid advertising woman in America - a career cut short by marriage, motherhood, divorce, and a breakdown.

Lovely
Revisado: 02-04-17
I found this book to be the perfect antidote to the stresses of the world today. It's lovely and compelling. The author writes from the heart creating a relatable, flawed, and very likable woman. Plus she used the phrase "The tribe of incorrigible brats" which I found so funny I wrote it down. I think I have a new name for my fictitious band.

Beautiful storytelling all around
Revisado: 03-02-16
Kate Morton has the ability to create a beautiful story and characters to love. Her mastery of language is complimented by the readers ability to expertly portray so many distinctive people. I can't wait to read the next one.

A bit catty but a great read

I very much enjoyed hearing Hollys version of life in the mansion and out. She self aware and seems to have it mostly in perspective with the occasional claw coming out. Worth it.

Great Story/Not so great narration
Revisado: 09-22-14
What was one of the most memorable moments of Centuries?
I found it to be such an enjoyable ride that I was truly wary of how the story would wrap up. But the ending was well conceived and I was completely satisfied in the end.
What didn’t you like about David Gilmore’s performance?
On the plus side, you could keep the characters straight, and knew who he was at any given time. On the minus side, everybody sounded like they were whining a lot of the time. I just didn't find his performance appealing.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Beware your actions. They always have unintended results.

Genuinely enjoyed the journey
Revisado: 03-27-14
If you could sum up 10% Happier in three words, what would they be?
A great story about one man's path to expanding his horizons and changing his perspective on himself and on the world.
Any additional comments?
I found Dan Harris' perspective to the touchy-feely lifestyle refreshing. I enjoyed his observations and awareness of how the "groovy movement" has very poor PR and his self awareness of the fact that he is quick to judge. My own experiences in the world have been very different from his but, as someone who has spent her life straddling the "real" world and the world of the holistic movement I felt I could relate to what he was saying. I would recommend it to anyone. In fact I HAVE recommended it to several people already.
