Historia
Kathleen Turner wasn’t expecting to fall in love when she came to Indianapolis a year ago, much less with two very different men. And not just any men: Brothers. Blane Kirk, former SEAL turned attorney, is every woman’s dream man. He’s also a playboy who changes women as often as he changes his tie, and trying to hold on to Blane could only break Kathleen’s heart.

She should have picked Blaine
Revisado: 10-11-24
SPOILER ALERT - The series was interesting, but I was left hoping she would pick Blaine because she truly loved and chose him. I loved Kade’s snarky character, but Kathleen annoyed me with all of her indecision. It was pretty hypocritical of her to be mad and act all affronted because Blaine believed his uncle after seeing those pictures when she was in reality getting way too cozy with Kade when she was engaged to Blaine. Those pictures weren’t doctored, after all. She was in a skimpy outfit with Kade’s hands up her skirt, just like the pictures showed, so why wouldn’t Blaine feel like he was being cheated on? Also, Kathleen was frequently upset that Blaine held things back while on a regular basis she was either flat out lying or withholding information from him. I should probably feel like Blaine dodged a bullet by not ending up with Kathleen, but I was left still wanting Blaine to get the girl he loved and for none of the love triangle with Kade to impact the brothers’ relationship. It’s too bad the author doesn’t write an alternate ending where she ends up with Blaine because she is in love with him but somehow his relationship with Kade isn’t destroyed and no one is left heartbroken.

How much do I dare risk for his love?

Female lead character is too annoying
Revisado: 10-04-21
I usually like Anna Zaires’ books, but there were a couple of big things I didn’t like about this one. First, the female lead character was incredibly annoying. Almost 3/4 of the book she was determined not to be with the male character and acted like a hysterical, obstinate jerk. I honestly have no idea what he saw in her, which takes me to the second point. With the exception of a few pages where Sebastian York narrates for a character other than the male lead, the story is told from the annoying female’s point of view. I got so irritated with her childish thoughts and behavior that I fast forwarded quite a bit. At least if some of the story was told from the male lead’s point of view, the reader might have been able to figure out what he saw in her, but that never happened. It also felt like a bait and switch seeing Sebastian York as one of the narrators when he had so little involvement in the audiobook.

Dr. Elizabeth Nolan is somehow tangled up in the crime, and even while Reed must now question her possible involvement, he can’t help being drawn to the beautiful, enigmatic woman.

Great story and narration
Revisado: 06-10-21
I read this book and Where the Blame Lies when they were first released, and I loved both of them. When I saw they were available through Audible, I was a little worried that the narrators might take something away from the book. Teddy Hamilton and Callie Dalton were the PERFECT choice for both books. Now I just wish there were more books in this series by Mia Sheridan, one of my favorite authors.

Female narrator and character ruined this
Revisado: 05-29-21
I typically enjoy Anna Zaires’ books, but this one grated on my nerves. The female narrator’s voice was so annoying, having a strange cadence and the end of the last word of every other statement was unnaturally drawn out. I found myself cringing each time it was her turn to narrate and even fast forwarded to the male narrator several times. It didn’t help that Sarah spent the majority of the first three books fighting against being with Peter yet having sex with him multiple times a day. That got really tiresome. I could possibly understand spending the majority of the first book fighting against the relationship, but it went on for most of the series. I honestly don’t know what Peter found so compelling about Sarah and, sadly, couldn’t recommend this to others.

Historia
Ever Montgomery suffered the ultimate betrayal by the one man who she should have been able to count on for anything. It has left her hurt, jaded, and incapable of forming relationships, but it also means that she can spot a liar a mile away. These traits are earning her a reputation as a reporter with a keen nose for a good story and a complete understanding of the extreme power of the written word.

Male narrator’s voice didn’t fit character
Revisado: 04-17-21
I usually like Sawyer Bennett’s books, but this was just OK. The Male narrator’s voice didn’t fit the character and was distracting from the story, and I got really tired of hearing the female character’s drama and internal whining about how men cannot be trusted. She got mad quickly and then said or did really immature things, which made her not very likable.

Historia
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

Female lead was annoying at times
Revisado: 03-13-21
I usually love Vi Keeland’s books, but I took two stars off one because it was annoying listening to the female character’s repetitive and ridiculous inner thoughts about why she couldn’t date the male character and then again when she just took off and avoided him for a week. One or two days to get yourself ready to have that conversation is understandable, but an entire week? Who knows if she actually would have had the guts to talk to him about it if he hadn’t dropped by unannounced when she had been avoiding him all week. And stealing numerous bottles of expensive champagne after you’ve been caught crashing the wedding just didn’t help with my dislike of this character. Hudson’s character saved the book, but honestly I have to wonder what he saw in her after all of that.

I am so glad I found this book!
Revisado: 01-02-21
I have been on a string of predictable books with overused plots, and I came across this book by chance. I had not heard of this author, but the premise behind the book was intriguing so I gave it a shot and am so glad I did. The story was different than I expected, and it continued to have surprising twists and turns right up to the last chapter. I will definitely read other books by this author.

Wanted to love it, but the female character was so annoying
Revisado: 11-26-20
I have enjoyed many other books by this author and was expecting to love this book too, but the focus of 30 of the 40 or so chapters was the female character behaving like a teenager and having to listen to her annoying inner monologue. I kept hoping that the story would switch to being told from Zeus’ point of view so I could better understand what he could possibly see in this woman, but that never happened. That said, the female narrator did a good job with the voices of all of the characters. I just wish the female character’s repetitive thoughts about why she couldn’t do this (usually right after she did do this) would have ended much sooner in the book and some of the story could have been told from the male character’s point of view.

I wouldn't say I ran away exactly - 22 is too old for that. I'd call it self-preservation. I have one objective: protect my heart from the boy next door who has no clue I've loved him my whole life, even with a front row seat to his revolving bedroom door. My escape plan almost worked. Except I left one thing behind. Logan Carter hijacked my heart, and it's time to get it back. This time for good.

Narrators did a great job
Revisado: 10-04-20
The narrators were a great fit for these characters, and the story was really good. The only thing I didn’t like was Joey believing the (SPOILER ALERT) psycho woman’s lies in addition to disregarding her own unease about the woman’s behavior. It seems like a lot of the books I’ve read/listened to lately have this same scenario or the female character goes to the restroom at a big event and is told similar lies by a jealous woman. It’s becoming predictable, but this author did give it an extra twist with the attack, so I am still giving this a 4. I would give a 4.5 if that were an option.

Loved the story, but the female narrator’s accent for the male character was distracting
Revisado: 10-02-20
I loved the story, and the female narrator did a great job with the female character’s voice, but her male character’s voice with the Boston accent was not good. What was especially odd is that the male narrator didn’t have a Boston accent when speaking the male character’s parts so it seems like she could have dropped that accent, and it would have sounded so much better. It was distracting and took away from a great story.
