Historia
The Brave Athlete solves the 13 most common mental conundrums athletes face in their everyday training and in races. You don't have one brain - you have three; your ancient Chimp brain that keeps you alive, your modern Professor brain that navigates the civilized world, and your Computer brain that accesses your memories and runs your habits (good and bad). They fight for control all the time and that's when bad things happen. What if you could stop the thoughts and feelings you don't want? You can.

Historia
Florida native Jim McGinnis explores what it is that makes teachers like Frank Quinn so fiercely loyal to the art of teaching, so committed to their calling. This novel is a reflection on all that is good in the classroom, giving voice to the beauties, frustrations and truths that make up a teacher's day. Frank Quinn, a veteran American History teacher, has seen a lot in his day - promising students, apathetic students, lessons good and bad, endless mandates, and teachers that become legendary in their own right.

Jim McGinnis balances the passions of teaching and history. I loved the placement of historical sources that were very relevant to his story and message.

While this book was full of what is mostly solid research it rambled a bit about the history of media

Historia
Direct, blunt, and brutally honest, Tim Grover breaks down what it takes to be unstoppable: You keep going when everyone else is giving up, you thrive under pressure, you never let your emotions make you weak. In "The Relentless 13", he details the essential traits shared by the most intense competitors and achievers in sports, business, and all walks of life.

What would have made Relentless better?
Watching it burn
Has Relentless turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, I truly love human performance books. However, this book is just a ego trip for Mr. Grover
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I feel bad for him. I'm not sure how he didn't throw up in my mouth reading this. He earned this paycheck.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disdain.
Any additional comments?
Do not bother. I'm convinced the author wrote this to truly feed his ego. It offers nothing beyond how great he is(just ask him). I found it to be contradictory on many levels.
"Be relentless, unless you don't have world class talent. If that is the case quit now".
Also I fail to see the need for the profanity in the book. Simple minds simple words I guess.
