One of the best books, and one of the best narrators
Revisado: 01-11-25
I have listened to over 80 Star Wars books on audible and this is one of my favorites. There’s maybe 15 books that I’ve listened to more than once. This in particular I’ve listen to 4 times. I highly recommend it. Also I just want to note that this narrator is one of the best for imperial stories. This guy gives the entire story a high level imperial executive sound— PEFERCT for the Tarken experience. I hope he returns for more. I also hope there’s more SW books with this tone in the future. If you’re on the fence about this book, but you enjoy strong characters in sw universe and stories that follow a single character throughout the entire experience— definitely give this book a try!!!

Scattering after the Yuuzhan Vong's invasion of Coruscant, the panic-stricken members of the New Republic Advisory Council pause just long enough to set up a mock defense on nearby Borleias and attempt to buy time - which fools no one, least of all the Jedi. Bearing down swiftly on Borleias is a Yuuzhan Vong invasion fleet, determined to destroy the galaxy's remaining defenders.

Amazing change of tone from the last few
Revisado: 03-24-24
I’m going through the vong series right now and loving the ride. The writers have done an amazing job for the most part. I wish Disney would fanchise the rights to this storyline to HBO or something for a TV series with the vibe of Game of Thrones.
That said, this particular book was a great change of writing from the preceding 1-2 books.
It brought back the style that made me fall in love with Vector Prime and the other first few books in this series.
Again, This book was great. Honestly I really wasn’t liking the few books since the 3 solo kids went to get captured intentionally. It was completely idiotic and just so unbelievably stupid that it was a grueling ~9hrs or so to listen to. They could have wrote a better story to end the solo boys. Id complete those books and audibly exasperate: “thank god I’m done with that one. I need a break from this sh**”
The change in writing and brought back a believable journey. It was refreshing and energizes me for the rest of the series :)

Amazing. Just like deathtroopers
Revisado: 11-26-23
Joe Schreiber’s books add a needed and amazing touch to the Star Wars universe. The sinister, creepy, unhinged world and characters allow us(me) to experience the the dark side of Star Wars I always yearned for growing up. All I’ve ever wanted from Star Wars was adult stories. This certainly brings it. Start to finished I enjoyed the story, the overall ride and absolutely loved the ending. The whole story was crazy. A wild heckin ride. You won’t be disappointed. Note, I appreciate these stories by Joe, because their dark and wild nature were alluring enough to convince my friends into audible and Star Wars novels (friends who aren’t necessarily Star Wars fans in general). I’m happy to have friends who’ve listened to the same Star Wars novels as me. With this one we could relate, talk about the characters (like the funny voicing of the droid), how badass hk is, debate about whether or not Kendra is a hottie, etc.. Anyways, thank you Joe and the team who approved this book because it’s allowed me to enjoy Star Wars with my non Star Wars friends. Multiple of whom said they only listened to the book(s) (this and deathtroopers) because they’re horror stories, and I’ve failed to convince them to listen to any other novels). This story has allowed me to enjoy SW with my friends unlike anything else. Much appreciation

Once the Sith order teemed with followers. But their rivalries divided them in endless battles for supremacy - until one dark lord at last united the Sith in the quest to enslave the galaxy and exterminate the Jedi. Yet it would fall to another, far more powerful than the entire Brotherhood of Darkness, to ultimately realize the full potential of the Sith, and wield the awesome power of the dark side as never before.

Master Piece: a deep appreciation of the sith
Revisado: 09-25-23
So I’m about 25-ish Star Wars audiobooks deep in my career, and I don’t say this lightly: this is a masterpiece.
I’m relistening to this series again because I got burnt out on a newer SW book with woke Jedi trash.
That aside, this book presents the sith and dark side in a way that everyone (namely myself) has been hungry for ever since I was a kid. There hasn’t really been a GOOD pov of a dark side user in Star Wars, ever. Most stories make a mockery of the dark side or glance over the philosophical and ideological beliefs of the sith.
Bane is an absolutely awesome character. I relate with this character more than I can with the Darth Palegus books’ characters ( tennebrus, palegus and sideous born rich and with some innate talent despite little evidence of their training or hardships). HOWEVER, this storyline in Bane shows a seemingly normal person, mid twenties and poor, abused by father, no help from anyone and forced to leave home due to circumstances outside of his control — and he works his way to the top! Pure hardwork, pursuing knowledge on a path alone, and getting back up after his failures — truly builds him up into an awesome character. He is a legend. Born poor, and unassuming he reforms the sith. He walked his path alone. I love it. He is relentless and unabaiting. He’s thoughtful and philosophical.
This is the only Star Wars book where you really get any sense of what the sith are “about”. Plus his idealogy, ruthlessness is awesome. Amazing. I wish they had a Spanish version, because I’d listen to the entire trilogy for a THIRD time (whereas I can’t even get through the Aftermath series, or the Shatterpoint story once).
The narrator is amazing too btw. Banes voice is cool af
10/10 this is the best Star Wars content in the entire Star Wars universe, hands down. This series exceeds whatever competition is in the #2 slot by 2 standard deviations.
sorry for the rambling— but literally, this is — amazing.
Heck, I’d personally be happy throw $800 to crowdfund a live action TV series of bane based on this series (only if it’s a dark vibe, like Game of thrones, grungy and dirty). But alas, that’s a pipe dream.

Historia
In the New York Times best-seller Darth Bane: Path of Destruction, Drew Karpyshyn painted a gripping portrait of a young man’s journey from innocence to evil. That man was Darth Bane, a twisted genius whose iron will, fierce ambition, and strength in the dark side of the Force made him a natural leader among the Sith - until his radical embrace of an all-but-forgotten wisdom drove him to destroy his own order...and create it anew from the ashes.

Amazing… absolutely amazing
Revisado: 09-06-23
Once the epilogue ended, I was overcome with goosebumps. Filled with absolute stoke. I was driving when the audiobook ended on the highway and I yelled woo woo woooo!!!!!!
God, this book was such a thrill. I’ve listened to about 13 Star Wars audiobooks in the past month and a half. I’m reviewing only this one out of the dozen or so because it is so awesome I love Darth bane path of destruction, and this book are my favorite.. I’m going to continue to delve into the stories of the old republic continuing to continue with the third Bane story as well as Darth Revan. This was awesome. Bane is my favorite character in Star Wars. And Darth Zannah is an absolute baddie.
Read this book. It won’t disappoint!!!!!!
Also, whoever narrated this book has my favorite voice out of any of the audiobooks I’ve listen to for Star Wars. I was pleasantly surprised to find that this book had the same narrator as the first in the first bane story. 10/10
