Historia
Dan Sheehan is a third-generation military flyer. He was eager to test his skills as a Cobra gunship pilot in the theatre of combat - and then he got his chance, first, in East Timor, then during two tours of duty in Iraq. The scenes in Dan's military memoir crackle with tension and excitement as we follow his path into battle. Bullets pierce their Cobras as Dan and his buddies struggle to separate enemy fighters from civilian - ultimately deciding who lives and dies. Through blinding sandstorms, the smoke of battle and chaos of low-altitude firefights at night.

Do you want some cheese with that whine
Revisado: 07-29-22
I just couldn’t take it. An endless whining monologue about his terrible feelings! And the horrible language was nearly in every sentence! Someone please take this guy back to the field hospital and keep him there.

Historia
Audie Murphy was a desperately poor eighteen-year-old orphan when he joined the Army, nineteen when he first saw a buddy die from an enemy bullet and an enemy die from one of his own. By VE day, he had killed at least 240 Germans, had single-handedly destroyed a German tank in one battle and held off six tanks in another, and had become the most decorated soldier in American history, winning every medal his country offered, including the Congressional Medal of Honor.

Aaaamazing!
Revisado: 07-13-22
This story has a huge amount of action and humor! This story is absolutely beautifully and hilariously told to perfection. The main characters are so well developed and likable that the reader feels the tragic loss as each one succumbs to the inevitable million dollar wound or body bag. Audey is miraculously saved by God or fate to tell the story of the men who gave their all every day in impossible circumstances! Wow!!! What a story!

Historia
When General Douglas MacArthur arrived in Australia in March 1942, having successfully left the Philippines to organize a new American army, he vowed, "I shall return!" More than two years later he did return, at the head of a large U.S. army to retake the Philippines from the Japanese. The place of his re-invasion was the central Philippine Island of Leyte. Much has been written about the naval Battle of Leyte Gulf that his return provoked, but almost nothing has been written about the three-month long battle to seize Leyte itself.

Buried headline

This story was sometimes hard to follow but the author helped me realize that this island became the biggest turning point for the Japanese ground forces. The Japs gave it their all with their best troops but were still crushed.

Historia
The story of Captain D. Michael Abrashoff and his command of USS Benfold has become legendary inside and outside the Navy. Now Abrashoff offers this fascinating tale of top-down change for anyone trying to navigate today's uncertain business seas. When Captain Abrashoff took over as commander of the Benfold, a ship armed with every cutting-edge system available, it was like a business that had all the latest technology but only some of the productivity.

Sounds braggadocious but it’s not
Revisado: 03-15-22
I almost quit the book early on because the author sounded like a braggart but it ain’t bragging if it is the truth! This guy just amazed me with his astonishing ability to organize and inspire a large group of disgruntled and demoralized people! This was a truly outstanding book about a genius level people manager.
