Historia
This lush novel, set in 1766 England and America, evokes an era ripe with riot and revolution, from the teeming streets of London to the sprawling grounds of a Virginia plantation. Mack McAsh burns with the desire to escape his life of slavery in Scottish coal mines while Lizzie Hallim is desperate to shed a life of sheltered subjugation to her spineless husband. United in America, their only chance for freedom lies beyond the Western frontier - if they're brave enough to take it.

Historia
On the right side of the law. Sort of. Sebastian Rudd is not your typical street lawyer. He works out of a customized bulletproof van, complete with Wi-Fi, a bar, a small fridge, fine leather chairs, a hidden gun compartment, and a heavily armed driver. He has no firm, no partners, no associates, and only one employee: his driver, who's also his bodyguard, law clerk, confidant, and golf caddy.

Interesting!
Revisado: 05-16-16
Would you listen to Rogue Lawyer again? Why?
I would. It is more like a collection of short vignettes but it hangs together well and keeps your interest.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked his rogue attitude but that he stays on the right side of things despite his unconventional tactics to fight the system.
Which character – as performed by Mark Deakins – was your favorite?
The main character is the strongest and most developed.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not an issue - listening time is defined by my commute.
Any additional comments?
Worth reading for sure. It will keep your interest. Grisham always does!

Great story, flat narration.
Revisado: 09-02-15
What made the experience of listening to The Burning Room the most enjoyable?
The story had many classic Bosch twists and turns.
What did you like best about this story?
Simultaneous cases unraveling. It was nice to see Bosch as teacher/mentor to a young detective.
Would you be willing to try another one of Titus Welliver’s performances?
It was in this series I would because I love the stories but his narration is flat and does not bring the characters to life as well as previous narrators.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Several when Harry praises Soto or picks her up when she is down about a misstep.
Any additional comments?
I fear we are near the end of the series so I savor each one including this one.

Where does The Survivor rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I bought this book on the daily special and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. Many twists and turns in the plot kept it interesting to the very end.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The daughter's boyfriend added comic relief but had his touching moments.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Scott is an incredible narrator. I love it every time he turns up on a book.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I listen while commuting so that is not really an option but listening in 90 chunks was not a problem and I could not wait to get back into the car and listen to more.

Historia
In a case that spans 20 years, Harry Bosch links the bullet from a recent crime to a file from 1992, the killing of a young female photographer during the L.A. riots. Harry originally investigated the murder, but it was then handed off to the Riot Crimes Task Force and never solved. Now Bosch's ballistics match indicates that her death was not random violence, but something more personal, and connected to a deeper intrigue. Like an investigator combing through the wreckage after a plane crash, Bosch searches for the "black box", the one piece of evidence that will pull the case together.

A bit different but good just the same.
Revisado: 06-22-15
What made the experience of listening to The Black Box the most enjoyable?
The story was a little different than the usual Bosch storyline.
What did you like best about this story?
I liked the complexity of the present interacting with the past.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
I did not feel that the narration was as good on this one as the others in the series. It felt like someone reading me a story instead of being immersed in the story as it unfolded as with others.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not necessarily. Better to savor it over time - besides my commute is not that long!
Any additional comments?
I have listened to the entire series save the last one. It has been a wonderful journey!

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Great book on many levels.
Revisado: 05-25-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Nightingale to be better than the print version?
I loved the narration. The characters were given depth and definition through the voicing.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The two sisters wonderfully illustrated how siblings can take very different pathways to the similar binding objectives. The difficulties between them resulted from not fully understanding and appreciating each other.
What does Polly Stone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The voicing of the characters defined the characters in a way that print could not.
Who was the most memorable character of The Nightingale and why?
The sisters because of the strength of their characters.
Any additional comments?
This is a great book at the pure level of a good story but it also gave a strong historical perspective on the German occupation of France as well as illustrating how we don't always get along with those close to us for reasons that have more to do with perspective than actual differences. The depth of this book from all of these perspectives makes it a great listen!

Would you try another book from Dana Stabenow and/or Marguerite Gavin?
Absolutely. I love the story lines and the Alaskan background!
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
The relationships were interesting but the ending was disappointing and anticlimactic.
What about Marguerite Gavin’s performance did you like?
Marguerite is a great narrator and really gives life to the story and characters.
Did Better to Rest inspire you to do anything?
I will start Stabenow's other series.
