Historia
When the enslaved Jim overhears that he is about to be sold to a man in New Orleans, separated from his wife and daughter forever, he decides to hide on nearby Jackson Island until he can formulate a plan. Meanwhile, Huck Finn has faked his own death to escape his violent father, recently returned to town. As all readers of American literature know, thus begins the dangerous and transcendent journey by raft down the Mississippi River toward the elusive and too-often-unreliable promise of the Free States and beyond.

Best one yet
Revisado: 09-21-22
I’ve loved all of Robert Galbraith’s books, and Robert Glenister could read me the back of a shampoo bottle and I’d love it, but this book is extra good. I like that Robin and Strike are growing up, so to speak, learning from their mistakes and improving their communication. I also love how their relationship has and continues to develop. I hope something actually happens there in the next book and I hope JKR writes fast. Lol.
I like how this book also addresses how toxic the internet can be and how damaging “just words” can be to people, and this book feels like a personal account as JKR is certainly no stranger to internet trolls.

Historia
Environmental devastation and economic chaos have turned America into a land of horrifying depravity. Assault, theft, sexual abuse, slavery, and murder are commonplace. And a zealous, bigoted tyrant has won his way into the White House. Directly opposed is Lauren Olamina, founder of Earthseed - a new faith that teaches "God Is Change". Persecuted for "heathen" beliefs as much as for having a Black female leader, Earthseed's followers face a life-and-death struggle to preserve their vision.

If you liked the first book, do yourself a favor and don’t read this one
Revisado: 08-28-22
Lauren’s narrator was good, not as good as the lady from book one. Larkin’s narrator was HORRIBLE though.
This book just doesn’t do anything for me. It was just one terrible thing after another, and for what purpose? I don’t want to give away the ending, but I also hope you don’t read this book at all because it’s so bad.

Historia
On Winston Churchill’s first day as prime minister, Adolf Hitler invaded Holland and Belgium. Poland and Czechoslovakia had already fallen, and the Dunkirk evacuation was just two weeks away. For the next 12 months, Hitler would wage a relentless bombing campaign, killing 45,000 Britons. It was up to Churchill to hold his country together and persuade President Franklin Roosevelt that Britain was a worthy ally - and willing to fight to the end. In The Splendid and the Vile, Erik Larson shows how Churchill taught the British people "the art of being fearless."

Great story, distracting and annoying narrator
Revisado: 12-30-20
The narrator drops syllables at the end of words making him difficult to understand sometimes. I kind of got used to it and the story was compelling enough to keep me listening though. Also his character voices were not great, and I actually felt a little offended for Mary Churchill because he made her sound like a petty, flighty little moron. It’s really too bad. I feel like a good number of people will be put off listening of this fascinating story because of the narrator.

Likable characters, fun fast-paced story,
Revisado: 06-16-19
The main characters in this first book in the Ozel the Wizard series, Ozul, Aysu, and Ergam, are likable and have great chemistry together. I loved the way they are kind to each other instead of joking/insulting like lots of other books do. The story is funny, exciting, and fast-paced, and Robert Powell's narration is great. I've heard some readers have a problem with some of the language, but it doesn't bother me. I think it's funny and unexpected, but not gratuitous. And I particularly love the message that you get good at something by practicing hard and often, not just being born with ability.
