I bought this book based on a review in the NY Times. The narrator did a pretty good job with all the voices, and there were some ironic and humorous discussions among the characters. But the problem was the plot - so many characters, including principals and victims, some with aliases or nicknames, a woman called Charlie, and a book within a book - sometimes I couldn't figure out what was going on. I can't really recommend this one.

Would you try another book from Liane Moriarty and/or Caroline Lee?

No

What was most disappointing about Liane Moriarty’s story?

So many coincidences to move the plot forward - I found the writing pedestrian, the characters were more types than individuals, and some of the incidents just too predictable.

Have you listened to any of Caroline Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

What character would you cut from The Husband's Secret?

It's not that I would cut any but I wish they were better developed.

Any additional comments?

I am dumbfounded that so many people praise this book. Tupperware parties, Easter hat parades, midnight "chance" meetings at a gas station, it all just felt contrived. And the epilogue, in which a murderer was more or less excused, was the icing on the cake. I like subtlety in books I read, and this one didn't offer any.
