Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Historia
Ghosts don't exist in our world of today. Life is too pragmatic, too consuming, too busy for past lives to linger on longer than their allotted time, or so Halcyon had believed, until she received a letter from a lawyer claiming that her mother, whom she had thought long dead, had actually been living in another part of the country since Halcyon's early childhood. She had only recently passed away, leaving Halcyon heir to an unexpected fortune and an estate on an isolated island in the middle of the Great Lakes.

A beautiful haunting story.
Revisado: 12-01-20
Listening to the narrator took some getting used to... she has a kind of dream like quality that, at first was out of sync with the story. Then, after hearing the story with its spooky elements- it started to fit perfectly!
It was fun because I used to visit Mackinac Island, as a teenager with my youth group. We would spend a week in cabins along the lake! So this was fun to go back and hear a good ghost story about the other island!

Historia
If You Can Keep It is at once a thrilling review of America's uniqueness, and a sobering reminder that America's greatness cannot continue unless we truly understand what our founding fathers meant for us to be. The book includes a stirring call-to-action for every American to understand the ideals behind the "noble experiment in ordered liberty" that is America. It also paints a vivid picture of the tremendous fragility of that experiment and explains why that fragility has been dangerously forgotten.

This helped me understand America!
Revisado: 06-21-16
To be fair, I agree with the author's worldview. Therefore am more likely to enjoy this book. As a Christian and US History teacher, I have struggled to put into words the why and how America is good and worth the love I have for her.
Eric has done a superb job articulating these ideas and with such emotion too!
It's not wrong, it's good. It's good because it serves to help others! It's not perfect but it is not evil as some have tried to make others think.
I loved his perspective of the great compromise in the constitution, and why the Arts are important to use along side with the facts of our history! It's given me such joy that I will be able to use THIS book in my class! It's renewed a purpose to continue reaching the next generation and telling them their history of their country!
Over all great book!

This book was a great read!
Revisado: 05-18-16
It brought me in from the beginning and kept me wanting to understand how it ended! The twists and turns were as fun as a roller coaster ride! Yet I also felt like I truly gained some insight to a terrible secret that some families deal with. I felt like the characters were my friends and I could feel what they were feeling!
Overall it was a perfect escape.

Historia
In The Collapse of Parenting, Leonard Sax, an acclaimed expert on parenting and childhood development, identifies a key problem plaguing American children, especially relative to other countries: the dramatic decline in young people's achievement and psychological health. The root of this problem, Sax contends, lies in the transfer of authority from parents to their children, a shift that has been occurring over the last 50 years and is now impossible to ignore.

refreshing parenting ideas for young parents
Revisado: 03-22-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The Collapse of Parenting to be better than the print version?
Just as equal.
What about Malcolm Hillgartner’s performance did you like?
He had a voice I didn't mind listening to while trying to understand.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
no
Any additional comments?
I found the ideas in this book to be full of common sense. The kind my grandparents and older generations might have had. It is practical, full of insight, and logical conclusions. I love how he spelled out what he was setting out to prove and then gave his "prescript" to fix the situation! Our pediatrician (who reared four of his own children) seems to be inline with this book!
