The American supermarket is an everyday miracle. But what does it take to run one? What are the inner workings of product delivery and distribution? Who sets the price? And who suffers for the convenience and efficiency we’ve come to expect? In this rollicking exposé, author Benjamin Lorr pulls back the curtain on this highly secretive industry.

What just happened to my brain!?
Revisado: 05-17-21
This book was SO much more than I could’ve anticipated. Lorr is one of the most incredible, thought provoking, and talented journalist writer I think I’ve come across.
The descriptive words he uses made me actually feel there.
I need more!! Not once was I bored. For a minute was was needing a break from his voice when he sounded too intense but this book could not have been read by anyone else but him. I’m glad he read his own book
B. Lorr, thank you for telling this story and the time and effort you put into this work. If we all read this book, we would be much more aware people.

My new bff
Revisado: 04-19-21
I didn’t even check to verify that this book was read by the author, but I know it was. I’m so glad that she read it herself and I know that we would be BFFs. She’s very relatable, kind, witty , and adorable, Not to mention incredibly intelligent and inspiring. My only beef is that the book is Generally exclusive to those living in the UK. I need her to write a book for the US😂😪

Revisado: 12-20-19
The narrator was excellent. She really brought this story alive. The author touches on nearly every human dilemma and shows how connected we all really are. Great book- I’m much improved.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Starr Carter moves between two worlds: the poor neighborhood where she lives and the fancy suburban prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Khalil was unarmed. Soon afterward, his death is a national headline. Some are calling him a thug, maybe even a drug dealer and a gangbanger. Protesters are taking to the streets in Khalil’s name.

Good story... but I kept waiting for
Revisado: 09-10-19
It wasn’t bad, at all.
In fact, it was one of the best audio voices is that I’ve listen to.. but with all the fantastic reviews I expected to have my mind blown.. it was good.. And at first sounded kind of realistic, but then the last half definitely seemed fabricated.
