DId not finish - Way too much descriptive sexual content for YA in my opinion. Unfortunate since the author is a VERY talented writer.

Based on the description, I expected the commonplace criticisms of ICE agents. The author seems more interested in pulling back the curtain on intercity life in Detroit. Subjects like police shootings, voodoo and lesbianism are handled with a refreshing subtlety that appeals to the intellect and challenges the traditional American perspective on immigration.

WELL DONE!

Would you try another book from Kristen Ashley and/or Lance Greenfield and Erin Mallon ?

Not from Ashley.

What could Kristen Ashley have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Develop the characters a little before dropping them in bed.

Any additional comments?

If you need to drop F-bombs like a seventh grader who just learned the word, you are probably trying to compensate for weak writing.

This was just ok for me. The characters are stereotypical: middle-aged woman realizing she is last to know about cheating husband, handsome, unbelievably sensitive neighbor nobody noticed in high school, vapid daughter (Cheyenne from Reba) who suddenly awakens and realizes her mom is a genius. The portrayal of an aging parent with dementia was quite well-done. I also give kudos for being clean.

Hours and hours of misery only to find out that the author won't say who did it? NOT FOR ME!

Would you be willing to try another book from Chris Grabenstein? Why or why not?

Yes, other than Mad Mouse, I like Chris Grabenstein's other books, even those written for younger audiences.

What aspect of Jeff Woodman’s performance would you have changed?

The drunken father voice was a little theatrical, but all others were well-done.

Any additional comments?

It might be time to retire the series due to the limits created by the naming convention. At some point, it just seems awkward and contrived.

Which scene was your favorite?

The Americana line scene was a perfect use of irony.

Who was the most memorable character of Wonders Never Cease and why?

Kemp was a little too self-centered to believe, but I still enjoyed getting into his narcissistic mind and watching him trip over his own ego.

Any additional comments?

This could be a great family film. The book reads like a movie. The book narration is outstanding.

I love books that keep me thinking long after I have finished them. This one ranks in my top ten favorite books of all time. If you enjoy pondering questions like "what constitutes a miracle, and what is mere coincidence?" or "why are some people born in affluence and others poverty?" this is a great read. This is Christian literature with deep theological themes. The characters are very original and the conflicts between blacks and whites defy old stereotypes. Even as a white woman, I was able to identify with the black male character and gained new understanding for his struggles. Don't expect a predictable ending. If you seek to understand the symbolism in this story, you will find the ending quite satisfying. This is a book about the hope that is offered when we truly yield to the love of Christ. I recommend it to anyone interested in such hope.
