Historia
In Saturn's Children, Freya is an obsolete android concubine in a society where humans haven't existed for hundreds of years. A rigid caste system keeps the Aristos, a vindictive group of humanoids, well in control of the lower, slave-chipped classes. So when Freya offends one particularly nasty Aristo, she's forced to take a dangerous courier job off-planet.

Solid Stross!
Revisado: 09-02-24
I love his books so much! He has a great blend of actual and fun science, and edgy social commentary. This book describes an interesting version of a future that shows a potential deviation of our own hubris.

In a universe where the laws of physics and the speed of light are completely alien to our own, the travelers on the ship Peerless have completed a generations-long struggle to develop advanced technology in a desperate attempt to save their home world. But as tensions mount over the risks of turning the ship around and starting the long voyage home, a new complication arises: The prospect of constructing a messaging system that will give the Peerless news of its own future.

another stunning tale
Revisado: 03-21-24
Greg Egan writes the most beautiful stories mixing mathematics and physics in unique ways to develop new universes. The Clockwork Series questions the spacetime signature in a fun exploration. I would 100% recommend this series to those who are looking for a significant deviation from standard scifi or fantasy.

Historia
Stories of Your Life and Others presents characters who must confront sudden change-the inevitable rise of automatons or the appearance of aliens-while striving to maintain some sense of normalcy. In the amazing and much-lauded title story (the basis for the 2016 movie Arrival), a grieving mother copes with divorce and the death of her daughter by drawing on her knowledge of alien languages and non-linear memory recollection.

Doesn't feel like hard scifi but it is
Revisado: 02-09-24
There are a few stories in this series which are not hard scifi. This was my first read of Ted Chang's work, and I was expecting hard scifi. However, "Story of You Life" is delightfully different from the movie Arrival. And a few of the stories are excellent and relevant hard scifi stories. By the end, I really appreciated his writing and stories. I'm very happy that I listened to these stories.

Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing daily and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations will soon be able to coexist peacefully as equals, without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But the peace has also made humanity complacent.

Of all the sci-fi I've read to date, this series takes more liberty regarding the construction of the universe than any other. If you are a physicist or enthusiast, this series will satisfy your understanding of the universe and give you some new ideas.

Historia
There was a time when “universe” meant all there is. Everything. Yet, in recent years discoveries in physics and cosmology have led a number of scientists to conclude that our universe may be one among many. With crystal-clear prose and inspired use of analogy, Brian Greene shows how a range of different “multiverse” proposals emerges from theories developed to explain the most refined observations of both subatomic particles and the dark depths of space.
