Historia
When Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert of Green Gables, Prince Edward Island, send for a boy orphan to help them out at the farm, they are in no way prepared for the error that will change their lives. The mistake takes the shape of Anne Shirley, a redheaded 11-year-old girl who can talk anyone under the table. Fortunately, her sunny nature and quirky imagination quickly win over her reluctant foster parents. Anne's feisty spirit soon draws many friends - and much trouble - her way.

Narration is awful at first but gets better
Revisado: 07-28-16
I almost returned the book because of the quality of narration at the beginning. Not just the author, but the fact that you could hear ever breath and whatnot. It does get a bit better as it goes on.

Historia
Ms. Christie introduces us for the first time to Hercule Poirot as he solves the mysterious demise of Mrs. Alfred Inglethorpe at her country estate, Styles Court. Many suspects come under his scrutiny but it is his genius to unravel all the intricacies and end up solving the crime in a very surprising ending.

Worst French accent I've heard.
Revisado: 03-02-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Story seems great, all of the voices and accents are great but Poirot is impossible to listen to. I've taken 7 years of French, 2 years by a French person and yet many times I had no idea what word Poirot was saying. So overdone, I can hardly continue listening.
What didn’t you like about David Thorn’s performance?
Only the French accent. Everything else was great.

One of the best-known stories in American culture, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz has stirred the imagination of young and old alike for over 100 years. Best Actress nominee Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married, Alice in Wonderland, The Dark Knight Rises) lends her voice to this uniquely American fairy tale.

Anne Hathaway makes this unlistenable.
Revisado: 09-16-15
What would have made The Wonderful Wizard of Oz better?
Anyone else reading it.
What did you like best about this story?
It's a classic movie, and it's nice hearing what it's based off of.
What didn’t you like about Anne Hathaway’s performance?
Listen, I like Anne Hathaway. But not only were her voices *terrible* (and believe me, they were terrible. A southern accent for some character, a valley girl for a few characters, a daffy duck sounding guard, just awful, obnoxious voices.) but she read the entire thing like she was reading it for the first time. Many times she'd read a sentence and it wouldn't make sense because she'd have the incorrect inflection, or put emphasis on the wrong word. She's a great actress, my only explanation is that they only let her do one take. I mean, it doesn't make sense that she could be this awful.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
I was angry at how distracting her performance was. Regularly I would find myself marveling at how bad she'd said something, or some new character would be introduced and I'd be shocked no one told her she couldn't use a voice she was using. The book is impossible to enjoy.
Any additional comments?
For the love of God, do not listen to this version of this book. I honestly wonder how long it will be before I can watch The Wizard of Oz without cringing the entire time because the dark shadow this version has cast over it.
