Historia
What started out as a relaxing summer weekend for a former Marine Scout Sniper and his children quickly turned into the hardest battle of his life, after a multinational conspiracy to cripple the United States, brings unintended consequences of unleashing a biological evil the world is not prepared for. - A mostly fictional story with a mix of technical sniper knowledge, geopolitical strategy, medical horror and military humor.

Couldn’t stop listening!

Generally, I’m not the zombie/apocalypse type, but the author nailed the storyline! The character descriptions and the interplay between them made the story come to life. I loved how the interpersonal dynamics played out when establishing the new Lake City, and the leadership characteristics needed to build a cohesive town. Also, the tactical maneuvering and planning was on point and you can tell the author clearly has extensive experience in this aspect. The readers performing the story read had some minor mispronunciations, but easy to overlook. Can’t wait until the next book!

Historia
The Appalachian Trail trail stretches from Georgia to Maine and covers some of the most breathtaking terrain in America - majestic mountains, silent forests, sparking lakes. If you’re going to take a hike, it’s probably the place to go. And Bill Bryson is surely the most entertaing guide you’ll find. He introduces us to the history and ecology of the trail and to some of the other hardy (or just foolhardy) folks he meets along the way - and a couple of bears. Already a classic, A Walk in the Woods will make you long for the great outdoors (or at least a comfortable chair to sit and read in).

Weak
Revisado: 07-13-23
Parts of the book were hysterical, and others ok, but as others have noted, the author this book as a platform for promoting garbage theories, anti hunting rhetoric, and promoting stereotypes of poor communities found in the mountains along the trail. …and the author doesn’t even finish the trail as intended.
Would recommend other trail reads.
