Historia
Greece in the age of heroes. Patroclus, an awkward young prince, has been exiled to the kingdom of Phthia to be raised in the shadow of King Peleus and his golden son, Achilles. “The best of all the Greeks”—strong, beautiful, and the child of a goddess—Achilles is everything the shamed Patroclus is not. Yet despite their differences, the boys become steadfast companions. Their bond deepens as they grow into young men and become skilled in the arts of war and medicine—much to the displeasure and the fury of Achilles’ mother, Thetis, a cruel sea goddess with a hatred of mortals.

Rich in feeling and detail
Revisado: 11-20-24
If ever I was to think of a love story that I would want for myself, this would be it. The absolute acceptance and adoration of their relationship was entirely complete. What a beautiful way to take in Greek mythology.

Historia
In the still-segregated town of West Mills, North Carolina, in 1976, Marian, Marva, and Lazarus Harmon—three enigmatic siblings—are found shot to death in their home. The people of West Mills— on both sides of the canal that serves as the town’s color line—are in a frenzy of finger-pointing, gossip, and wonder. The crime is the first reported murder in the area in decades, but the white authorities don’t seem to have any interest in solving the case.

Boring
Revisado: 03-02-24
There is not one character in this book that is even slightly interesting. The storyline is annoying and I couldn’t have cared less about what happened to anyone in that book.

Do Not Pass This Up
Revisado: 10-20-22
This book is an absolute treasure trove of well researched, science backed information. I'm in the middle of a nutrition degree, so I’m familiar with many of the concepts presented here. There were however, many interesting. studies that I was unaware of. The vast amount of valuable information, coupled with his personal insights and background along with his sense of humor made this one of the best, and easiest to digest nutritional resources out there.

Someone is telling the story of the life of Charlie Barnes, and it doesn't appear to be going well. Too often divorced, discontent with life's compromises, and in a house he hates, this lifelong schemer and eternal romantic would like out of his present circumstances and into the American dream. But when the twin calamities of the Great Recession and a cancer scare come along to compound his troubles, his dreams dwindle further, and an infinite past full of forking paths quickly tapers to a black dot.

Real and heartfelt
Revisado: 02-25-22
It’s rare that I give anything five stars, but this book earned every one. My favorite Takeaway from this is that a person is never just one thing. We are different things to different people One can never just be summed up easily. We all struggle with ourselves. Our egos, our views of ourselves and how we impact the world. He captured perfectly a wide array of vastly different family members and how they interact with each other. I laughed, a lot. This book will stay with me.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

What a Disappointment
Revisado: 10-10-19
I have always been a lover of Stephen King. He has so many wonderful books that nearly anyone can get lost in. Over time however, there are certain things about his writing that have bothered me. Without making this go on forever, because it easily could, I’ll just get to the point. 1. His politics are overshadowing his stories to the point of distraction. 2. even though stories take place in current time the lingo that people use it’s from the 60s and 70s. Children do not speak this way and neither do the adults anymore. It’s completely outdated and a lot of readers wouldn’t even know what the hell he’s talking about. 3. His writing has gotten lazy. Increasingly over the past several years his characters just seem to know things without knowing things. He doesn’t want to take the time to connect the dots. 4. I’m tired of hearing about how people piss and shit their pants. 5. I’m also tired of listening to woman's bodies being described with fourth grade rhetoric and the general low opinion of nearly every female character period.

Utterly Heartbreaking and Spectacularly Beautiful
Revisado: 09-29-16
I don't even have the language to describe the emotions that I felt while listening to this. The absolute completeness of the love in these relationships and the sheer terror of the main character experienced by the reader will leave you thinking of this story long after you finish. The narration is stellar. An definitive must read.

What I expected
Revisado: 06-30-16
The book was average for King. At least for me. Not really exciting or compelling but alright. When King is doing his best work he is so meticulous with the story line. Absorbed in the characters. His endings are usually not fabulous because he has a hard time killing his baby. This one was written for the ending. A bit disappointing. On a side note, Holly Gibney's character could not have sounded more like C3PO. Highly annoying.

Awful Narration

This narrator performed am Orson Wells theatrical number. It's a crime story. It was so ridiculous. Took a lot away from the story, which was decent.
