Historia
Renée Ballard and the LAPD’s Open-Unsolved Unit get a hot shot DNA connection between a recently arrested man and a serial rapist and murderer who went quiet twenty years ago. The arrested man is only twenty-four, so the genetic link must be familial: His father was the Pillowcase Rapist, responsible for a five-year reign of terror in the city of angels. But when Ballard and her team move in on their suspect, they encounter a baffling web of secrets and legal hurdles. Meanwhile, Ballard’s badge, gun, and ID are stolen.

Fast Moving Several Great Plots
Revisado: 02-16-25
I LOVED this one! Rene Ballard is the focus. Madison Lintz from the TV show joins the cast with great effect! She is a wonderful in-person AND voice actress. Crossover with Harry B. (Titus) is great for Rene’s stories. Compelling drama jumps off the pages. Connelly does a great job of overlapping and interwoven simultaneous plots. This is one of my favorites and most memorable yet. Fun read, lots of believable action .Also, I can visualize Maggie Q as Rene Ballard. Great series casting choice. Perfect for the role. Highly recommended book and especially Audible.

Historia
On November 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln became the fluky victor in a tight race for president. The country was bitterly at odds; Southern extremists were moving ever closer to destroying the Union, with one state after another seceding and Lincoln powerless to stop them. Slavery fueled the conflict, but somehow the passions of North and South came to focus on a lonely federal fortress in Charleston Harbor: Fort Sumter.

Awesome Eric Larsen Story
Revisado: 01-28-25
Extremely well written. Almost like a novel. Focus is on an important slice of Civil War history. Edmund Ruffin narrative is particularly compelling and enormously interesting as a metaphor for the overblown chivalric hubris of the southern “fire eaters of the time. A doomed and artificially self-aggrandized character from beginning to end. Those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Highly recommended!

Back when Harry Bosch was just a rookie homicide detective, he had an inspiring mentor who taught him to take the work personally and light the fire of relentlessness for every case. Now that mentor, John Jack Thompson, is dead, but after his funeral his widow hands Bosch a murder book that Thompson took with him when he left the LAPD 20 years before - the unsolved killing of a troubled young man in an alley used for drug deals.

Multiple Interconnected Plots
Revisado: 05-03-24
This is a great Bosch/Ballard novel. Great plots. Clearly, Ballard is becoming the new Bosch to carry on. Bosch is a great, but flawed mentor. Ballard is a detective genius, though unappreciated by the LAPD. Together, they are great partners. Loved this book. Exciting right up to the last 5 minutes.”It ain’t over ‘till it’s over” . Won’t regret listening to this one!

He was a trained assassin. The best of the best. A hunter. A spy. A monster. But when they killed the woman he loved, he disappeared. Only there's one problem: You can never hide from the CIA. A weapon equivalent to a small nuclear bomb is missing. Not one intelligence agency in the world has a lead. Everyone that gets close to the truth, ends up dead.

No More Austin King
Revisado: 11-12-23
Wow. I listened to the whole novel. Here are my takeaways:
—Austin King is not Vince Flynn or Kyle Mills
—Very formulaic plot and story line for this genre
— Major logic and unanswered questions problems with the plot line. Like how did the magnitude of the threat possibly make it to is ultimate destiny?
—Could not get excited about fertilizer as a threat
—Writing style average
—Narration average
—conclusion was anti-climactic and too sweet
In the end, the hero says “ it’s over, it’s finally over”. That’s how I felt about the book. Seems like a copy cat story to Vince Flynn an other similar authors. I will NOT be reading or listening to other Austin King books. Was disappointed!

Detective Harry Bosch has retired from the LAPD, but his half-brother, defense attorney Mickey Haller, needs his help. The murder rap against his client seems ironclad, but Mickey is sure it's a setup. Though it goes against all his instincts, Bosch takes the case. With the secret help of his former LAPD partner, Lucia Soto, he turns the investigation inside the police department. But as Bosch gets closer to discovering the truth, he makes himself a target.

A Riveting Bosch Thriller
Revisado: 08-11-23
I have listen to or watched almost all Connelly/Bosch detective stories and this is one of the very best. Great, weaving plot, great character interplay and I can actually see Bosch’s face as Titus Welliver does another sterling acting job as the reader/narrator. A complete package. Plus, Bosch’s half brother is as smart as Harry and fun to watch like Jack McCoy from Law and Order. ..but on the defense side. Fun all the way around and could not stop listening.

An Uncomfortable Feeling
Revisado: 06-03-23
This “novel” by Jack Carr, made me feel both uncomfortable and excited at the same time. Jack’ s unique style in blending deep non-fiction research with a fictional expose’ of that research leads one to really think about our government, it’s lack of honesty and the elites in the deep state. It makes me uncomfortable because it makes me feel powerless to do anything about it. The fools running the country today are a far cry from the leaders of 1789 as depicted in the great book on George Washington by Ron Chernow. While those people were human the were not duplicitous like they are today. Great book by Jack Carr. Exciting and terrific plot and action. I plan to read them as fast as he can produce them.

Awesome Excitement. Scary Cliffhangers
Revisado: 03-31-23
This was great Jack Carr novel. Exciting from beginning to end. I think it is time for a James Reece/ Mitch Rapp crossover novel where they team up. Don't know that's ever been done. Could be a huge bestseller like the great Dick Wolf does with TV cop shows. Hope publishers and authors read this and consider it. Would be great fun for the fans of both.

Such bad privilege to hear my comedic hero's life story. I grew up with Mel Brooks. he is exactly my kind of funny. As Joseph Campbell says ; live your bliss as you take the hero's journey. What a 90 plus year journey. Great book! So glad he narrated it himself. A very creative and a very, very funny guy!

Historia
In August 1897, the young Belgian commandant Adrien de Gerlache set sail for a three-year expedition aboard the good ship Belgica with dreams of glory. His destination was the uncharted end of the earth: the icy continent of Antarctica. But de Gerlache’s plans to be first to the magnetic South Pole would swiftly go awry. After a series of costly setbacks, the commandant faced two bad options: turn back in defeat and spare his men the devastating Antarctic winter, or recklessly chase fame by sailing deeper into the freezing waters.

Terrific Thriller. Spellbinding Story
Revisado: 12-02-21
Great fun. We'll written plot and subplots. If you like Mitch Rapp you will love James Reese. Hope Reese becomes even more cunning and ruthless in the further. Pretty good in this one, though. Don't we all hate the self-righteous and bloated, narcissistic politicians and bureaucrats. Vicarious satisfaction at their expense. Looking forward to the next story.
