Historia
Most locals in Big Timber, Montana learn to live with the wind. Rick Jarrett sought his fortune in it. Like his pioneer ancestors who staked their claims in the Treasure State, he believed in his right to make a living off the land—and its newest precious resource, million-dollar wind. Trouble was, Jarrett’s neighbors were some of the wealthiest and most influential men in America, trophy ranchers who’d come West to enjoy magnificent mountain views, not stare at 500-foot wind turbines.

I was unaware of all the history of the Crazies and the extent of the wind farm battles.

Brilliantly researched!
Revisado: 03-26-25
The author was very thorough, fairly portraying all of the characters involved, additionally she exhaustively researched Montana’s intent to include clean energy within its public power infrastructure, and the oligarchs who fought against it.

Historia
Relentless phone calls interrupt the peace of a warm August morning in Three Pines. Though the tiny Québec village is impossible to find on any map, someone has managed to track down Armand Gamache, head of homicide at the Sûreté, as he sits with his wife in their back garden. Reine-Marie watches with increasing unease as her husband refuses to pick up, though he clearly knows who is on the other end. When he finally answers, his rage shatters the calm of their quiet Sunday morning.

Three pines was barely an afterthought.
Revisado: 11-26-24
The story was so convoluted and contrived. Three pines was barely an afterthought and what usually makes Louise Penny’s books stand out is the interplay between ganache’s work and the quirky, common townsfolk that inhabit this quaint Québec town. I missed them,

Historia
It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.

Narration
Revisado: 04-19-24
The narrator’s American accents were Abysmal and the author’s use of cliches (“cross your t’s and dot your i’s”) made it to take the story seriously.

Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Good story, good narration.
Revisado: 02-23-24
The story seemed well crafted and I enjoyed the characters as well as the main character- the Scottish highlands. I was quite rapt for the majority of this book, up and until the last few chapters. It was like the author couldn’t figure out how to finish the story so she just threw an idea against the wall to see if it would stick. The ending was ridiculous and disappointing. It went from being a spooky whodunnit to a tv courtroom drama. I Don’t recommend it though up until the end, I thought I would.
