Historia
Never in baseball history had a team ranked last rebounded to take the pennant the following season. Yet, in 1991, lightning struck twice as the Minnesota Twins and the Atlanta Braves, a pair of cellar dwellers the year before, faced each other in an unforgettable World Series. When the final out was recorded, the cover headline in Baseball Weekly read: Best World Series ever.”

Great Story, Uninspired Narrator
Revisado: 02-15-20
I grew up in Minnesota and was a Twins fan from the beginning. The story is well written and is very complete. However the narrator sounds like he doesn't really care and is about to fall asleep. This book deserves a better narrator. This is sad, because the story is about how two last place teams the very next year reach the World Series and experience what many call the best Series ever. It's a wonderful story about determination, grit and perseverance. Last place to first, both teams, showed off baseball at it's best.

An epic battle with stories from the participants.
Revisado: 10-07-18
The author brought the Battle to life with stories of the flyers from both sides of the conflict. This was masterfully done.

Historia
When Ball Four was published in 1970, it created a firestorm. Bouton was called a Judas, a Benedict Arnold and a “social leper” for having violated the “sanctity of the clubhouse.” Baseball commissioner Bowie Kuhn tried to force Bouton to sign a statement saying the book wasn’t true. Ballplayers, most of whom hadn’t read it, denounced the book. It was even banned by a few libraries. Almost everyone else, however, loved Ball Four.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I recommend this book, especially to baseball fans. I read this book when I was young in the early 70's, and now enjoying it once again with the perspective of time made it a wonderful treat to listen to.
Any additional comments?
Normally, I don't care for an author reading their own material, but this book turns out to be the exception. Bouton does a mavelous job of narrating his own work.

Excellent story
Revisado: 05-09-12
What made the experience of listening to Genghis Lords of The Bow the most enjoyable?
The narrator, Richard Ferrone, did an exceptional job. He is the narrator for the John Sanford "Prey" series, and as usual brought an excellent story to life with his voice.
What did you like best about this story?
The author did a masterful job of weaving history and what "might have happened" into a spellbinding story.
What about Richard Ferrone’s performance did you like?
Ferrone is very professional and his voice is alive and excited. He has the ability to bring the characters to life. Very well done.
