Historia
A blend of autobiography and fiction, the book opens on the day his close friend, Pop, a celebrated hunter, leaves Ernest in charge of the safari camp and news arrives of a potential attack from a hostile tribe. Drama continues to build as his wife, Mary, pursues the great black-maned lion that has become her obsession. Spicing his depictions of human longings with sharp humor, Hemingway captures the excitement of big-game hunting and the unparalleled beauty of the scenery.

Relaxing listen

Brian Dennehy does a fine job reading this story
I noticed some parts of the recording had “dead air”.
At times the story seemed a bit lackluster 🫠

The author is Very informed and knowledgeable. Good all around but…Not to sound high and mighty, but the German pronunciation was a bit off 😏

In this astounding account, Wall Street's notorious bad boy - and original million-dollar-a-month stock chopper - leads us through a drama worthy of The Sopranos, from his early rise to power to the FBI raid on his estate to the endless indictments at his arrest, to his deal with a bloodthirsty prosecutor to rat on his oldest friends and colleagues - while they were doing the same.

Historia
Quantum theory is weird. As Niels Bohr said, if you aren’t shocked by quantum theory, you don’t really understand it. For most people, quantum theory is synonymous with mysterious, impenetrable science. And in fact for many years it was equally baffling for scientists themselves. In this tour de force of science history, Manjit Kumar gives a dramatic and superbly written account of this fundamental scientific revolution.

Interesting
Revisado: 05-08-22
Ray Porter did a fine job narrating the book. At times it seemed the various characters would attack each other with thick volumes of physics books (pretty sure many of the characters had enormous egos).
Overall the story was enLIGHTning and at times rather to technical for me, however an amazing story overall.

Historia
In the predawn hours of March 4, 2002, just below the 10,000-foot peak of a mountain in eastern Afghanistan, a fierce battle raged. Outnumbered by Al Qaeda fighters, Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman and a handful of SEALs struggled to take the summit in a desperate bid to find a lost teammate. Chapman, leading the charge, was gravely wounded in the initial assault. Believing he was dead, his SEAL leader ordered a retreat. Chapman regained consciousness, alone with the enemy closing in on three sides, beginning the most difficult and exceptional fight of his life.

Worthy of US military’s highest award
Revisado: 01-29-20
I recommend this audiobook. There are many details depicting this warrior / husband/ dad & and friend to many.
The book does a fine job explaining the rigors of this high tech military occupation & the exceptional Air Force personnel who qualify... and of course the heroic last stand of John Chapman (& other warriors).
The narrator does a fine job of delivering a consistent story

Stephen E. Ambrose draws from hundreds of interviews with US Army veterans and the brave Allied soldiers who fought alongside them to create this exceptional account of the day that shaped the twentieth century. D-Day is above all the epic story of men at the most demanding moment of their existence, when the horrors, complexities and triumphs of life are laid bare and courage and heroism come to the fore.

D Day
Revisado: 10-27-19
Well written story. At times overwhelmingly tragic. And the little personal stories are at times very funny. Well researched and well read.
I recall having D Day veterans gave commencement speeches upon the competition of our US Army Basic training...On June 6th 1984. We were all in awe. This book puts the honor of being in the same room with those soldiers in perspective.
One more... Met a D Day Canadian soldier walking his dog in Los Angeles. He made it through the first few days of the invasion then had a nasty mine end his time as a soldier. He said he had retired from the phone company in the US - even though he was color blind... It seems his coworkers went out of their way to assist & honor his WW2 contributions. Nice sections on various countries’ military participation in this great (audio) book..
