Historia
Community service clean-up was supposed to be a tedious affair. But, when a young offender stumbles upon a bin bag filled with human remains, a quiet Highland village is thrown into chaos. The investigation leads DCI Jack Logan to a remote and nightmarish cottage, where a forgotten freezer holds a disturbing discovery: a full set of human fingers. As more body parts are uncovered, Logan and his team hunt for a killer with a gruesome obsession for collecting trophies.

Excellent writing
Revisado: 04-20-24
The Jack Logan series is the best of the Scottish police procedurals. Angus King is one of my favorite narrators. Together they’re great.

Surprisingly good
Revisado: 07-09-23
I expected another mediocre girl DI story, but found it to be very good. The writing is intelligent, the story line interesting and the narrator did a good job.

It had to happen. St Mary's is under investigation. Their director has been shot and Max is Number One Suspect. She needs to get away - fast - but dare she risk another jump so soon? And if she does, will it be a case of from the frying pan into the fire? We all know the answer to that one.

Always great
Revisado: 06-23-23
I always look forward to the next in this series. As always, there’s action, history, good guys and bad guys. While a lot of things were wrapped up in this one, word from Jodi is that this isn’t the last St Mary’s book.

Historia
In a not-too-distant future, a simple outpatient procedure that has been promised to increase empathy between romantic partners has become all the rage. So when Briddey Flannigan's fiancé proposes that he and Briddey undergo the procedure, she is delighted! Only, the results aren't quite as expected. Instead of gaining an increased empathetic link with her fiancé, Briddey finds herself hearing the actual thoughts of one of the nerdiest techs in her office. And that's the least of her problems.

Not like her other books
Revisado: 08-28-20
I’ve loved Connie Willis’ other books, but this one is ridiculous. Full of speculation, guessing, what if, how could you, did he, did she — and never directly asking. No one can tell anyone else no, even to medical testing.

Dispatched to Victorian London to seek out Jack the Ripper, things go badly wrong when he finds the St Mary's historians first. Stalked through the fog-shrouded streets of Whitechapel, Max is soon running for her life. Again. And that's just the start. Max finds herself in a race against time when an old enemy is intent on destroying St Mary's. An enemy willing, if necessary, to destroy History itself.

Books about time travel are usually unbelievable. The Chronicles of St. Mary’s are filled with real people going to real historical events and you feel you could go with them.

Historia
Everyone deserves to get away for a bit. Even the miscreants at St Mary's. Astonishingly, Dr. Bairstow has declared a holiday. Even more astonishingly - he's paying for it. Needless to say, there are strings attached. They have to record the 1601 performance of Hamlet, with Shakespeare himself in the role of the Ghost. It doesn't go well, of course.

Awful sound
Revisado: 06-02-15
What would have made Natural Causes better?
Couldn't listen to this. First, didn't realize the only version was abridged. Second, sound very muddled, echoed.
