Historia
After five years of tracking and capturing spies on English soil, Philip Jonquil, Earl of Lampton, is in pursuit of his last quarry. But at a traveler’s inn, he encounters an unexpected and far more maddening foe: Sorrel Kendrick, a young lady who is strikingly pretty, shockingly outspoken, and entirely unimpressed with him. Indeed, Sorrel cannot believe the nerve of this gentleman, who rudely accuses her of theft and insults her feminine dignity. Doubly annoyed when they both end up at a party hosted by mutual friends, Philip and Sorrel privately declare war on one another.

Typical story, awful accents
Revisado: 02-13-23
The storyline is patterned after any number of Jane Austin or Georgette Heyer novels with the Scarlet Pimpernel as the main male character. Two strong personalities clash at first & then fall in love. The reader used a strong American accent for all narration & attempted British, French & Scottish accents for the characters. The British accents were painful to listen to. Not keeping this one.

Historia
Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage ( The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.

One of my very favorites.
Revisado: 04-05-22
I really enjoy the slow story development. Contemporary writers try to reach out and grab your full attention from page one. Dickens is less intrusive & you walk beside the story, slowly realizing you are immersed into it. The story is a beautifully constructed gentle incline into better things. One of my favorite aspects is that Dickens portrays Copperfield as someone who has undergone extreme difficulties, but is made stronger by them. Copperfield isn’t great despite his challenges, but because of them. Personal difficulties are not depicted this way in most modern novels, sadly. I absolutely loved Richard Armitage’s performance!

Historia
Persuasion, Jane Austen's last novel, is a tale of love and marriage told with irony and insight. Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth have met and seperated years before. Their reunion, after the passage or irrecoverable years of their youth, forces a recognition of the false values that drove them apart.

One of the best classics ever!
Revisado: 02-25-22
There’s lots of reasons Jane Austin is considered one of the finest authors of all time. This novel is one of the reasons. No one crafts language like Jane Austen does. And what a wonderful change to have an antagonist that isn’t a type-A, hear-me-roar heroine. Love everything about this novel except: I wish the conclusion would have been written out between the characters instead of just summarized. Still 5 stars though.
