Historia
Concerned that technology is about to chase mythological creatures out into the open (how long can Sasquatch stay hidden from Google maps?), the League for Interspecies Cooperation is sending Jillian to Louisiana on a fact-finding mission. While the League hopes to hold on to secrecy for a little bit longer, they're preparing for the worst in terms of human reactions. They need a plan, so they look to Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where humans and supernatural residents have been living in harmony for generations.

She tells a great story, and her characters are endearing but the humor is the best part. And that’s saying a lot!

Historia
When the call comes, the Men of the Sisterhood drop everything to help their friends. This time it’s Cyrus, their four-legged hound dog and unofficial mascot. While member Joe Espinosa is driving along an isolated country road with Cyrus in tow, he catches a glimpse of movement in the woods bordering the road and notes Cyrus pawing desperately at the car window. As soon as he pulls over to investigate, Cyrus bolts out the door and leads Joe to three children clustered together - bedraggled, silent, and scared out of their wits.

Terrible!
Revisado: 03-10-23
This is a story that exalts vigilantism. I could have born the poor story telling, but not taking the law into their own hands. The author leans on our sympathies and horror at child trafficking to sell her poorly researched jumble of words. The characters are bland. I will never read her again.
Unfortunately, the narrator is nearly as bad! She should never play a part requiring accents.

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.

Revisado: 02-10-23
I liked this story. It had a surprising ending, but it was well thought out. The main character started off rather unappealingly but she evolved. And the narrator is much better than she’s being reviewed in some other reviews. Give it a try. I liked it a lot.

Historia
Mary Magdalene is one of the most influential symbols in the history of Christianity - yet, if you look in the Bible, you'll find only a handful of verses that speak of her. How did she become such a compelling saint in the face of such paltry evidence? In her effort to answer that question, Cynthia Bourgeault examines the Bible, church tradition, art, legend, and newly discovered texts to see what's there.

Historia
Acclaimed historian Heather Cox Richardson traces the shifting ideology of the Republican Party from the antebellum era to the Great Recession. While progressive Republicans like Teddy Roosevelt and Dwight Eisenhower revived Lincoln’s vision and expanded the government, their opponents appealed to Americans’ latent racism and xenophobia to regain political power, linking taxation and regulation to redistribution and socialism. In the modern era, the schism within the Republican Party has grown wider, pulling the GOP ever further from its founding principles.

I love their approach to research. Many of the references are from priests or archaeologists who have been either marginalized or repressed. While I thoroughly enjoyed listen to this in depth history, I don’t however agree with their conclusion. But that’s ok. I doesn’t in any way negate their nuanced and thorough research. Most highly recommended.

This book is equally as good as the woman screaching her way through this prose. She completely ruined it for me. I will NEVER get another book narrated by her.

A bold and beautiful story
Revisado: 06-21-19
Very rarely one stumbles on a book that weaves brilliant prose, riviting storytelling and vividly drawn characters into a perfect tale. Livingston's writing is so artistist I found myself rewinding repeatedly just to listen to the beautifully crafted wording. It is nonstop action adventure to voting to an elegant ending with a thought provoking ending. Janina Edwards narration brings the story leaping to life. 5 stars is not enough for this book or the narrator. My only complaint is that it was way too short. I'm hoping this is the beginning of a series.
