Suprisingly Good
Revisado: 03-10-19
I got this because it was on sale, but it ended up being really good! The protagonist, Ariadne, is relatable, and by the end, I was right there with the characters through every danger. It also had a nice balance of religious influence- it wasn't too heavy handed, and it was first and foremost a good story. The closest book that I've read to the style might be the Outlander series for putting you into the head of a historical woman, so if you liked that, you might like this.

Fair overview of Islam
Revisado: 12-31-16
Fair but not great. A bit too critical of Judaism and Christianity and also Western Civilization overall. There are better and fairer sources on Islam than this. C+ overall.

Historia
Putting history into a perspective, Irish History for Dummies is an engaging, entertaining and educational trip through time, packing in equal parts fun and facts, providing listeners with a riveting history of this ancient land. The history of Ireland has shaped the world far beyond its borders. And few stories have a greater need for a balanced and light-hearted telling than the complex and often controversial saga of Ireland and her people.

Great overview of Irish History!!!
Revisado: 03-13-16
Loved it. It's amazing how corrupt the English were and how resilient the Irish are. The English took everything they could for 700 years. They took the land and even their native language, supplanting it with English. But the English couldn't take the Irish's steadfast adherence to the true faith of Roman Catholicism and replace it with a manmade counterfeit of Anglicanism. The Irish never sold their soul.

The Easter Rising of 1916 was a major turning point in Irish history. Peopled by patriots and poets, fueled by a desperate desire for freedom, and played out in the historic streets of Dublin against the background of World War I, the rebellion is a story of tremendous power and unique poignancy.

Foolish sex scenes against the 1916 Easter Rising
Revisado: 02-23-16
Good story, but sadly punctuated with tawdry sex scenes that add NOTHING to the story except make me sure that I don't have my daughter listen to this book. I would recommend another book if you want just the history.

Historia
The Origin of Species sold out on the first day of its publication in 1859. It is the major book of the 19th century and one of the most readable and accessible of the great revolutionary works of the scientific imagination. Though, in fact, little read, most people know what it says—at least they think they do. The Origin of Species was the first mature and persuasive work to explain how species change through the process of natural selection. Upon its publication, the book began to transform attitudes about society and religion.

Excellent Narration, Hard to Follow Along
Revisado: 02-11-16
I got this book to get through my readings for a science class faster. It worked beautifully, except when I tried to follow along. My guess, though I haven't confirmed this with another print version of origin of species is that the footnotes are included in this audiobook. The choic to include them in the audio added a lot of detail, and made it a great listen, but not so great to follow along.
