A Great Read - Takes You Away from Every Day Life!
Revisado: 05-02-22
The Road Back Home is one read that took me away from much of my everyday life while COVID-19 came into play as a world pandemic. The narrator has a knack for drawing the reader in and immersing themselves in connecting with each character. I felt myself becoming the character, the friend, the friend, the family in this story.
The Road Back Home found me identifying with each character and part of their environments. And last but not least, each character brought a side story to the novel that marries well with the whole plot of the book.
I hated to put this novel down while attending to other daily business, but It is a page-turner and finds you lost in time.

Great Beach Read
Revisado: 04-27-22
In my point of view, a great read to pass the time on the beach.
although it starts off with, what I assume will be a comedy type read, does build up in substance and content.
over all, it makes you relax and forget all the craziness in the world.😊

Your Is summer vacation in Florida!
Revisado: 04-16-22
If you're looking for a great Summer Vacation read, this is it.
The Writer writes his words just as if you were part of the story as the bystander watching each character struggle through their daily lives while discovering more about the other characters involve in the journey.
The mystery itself, becomes a secondary story to the characters. Each day with them and understanding more about who they are is the story.
Reading this novel makes you feel like you're on vacation with these characters and just going for the ride.
A great read, and look forward to reading more of this author's authors novels.

Historia
Patrick, or Gay Uncle Patrick (GUP, for short), has always loved his niece, Maisie, and nephew, Grant. That is, he loves spending time with them when they come out to Palm Springs for weeklong visits, or when he heads home to Connecticut for the holidays. But in terms of caretaking and relating to two children, no matter how adorable, Patrick is, honestly, overwhelmed. So when tragedy strikes and Maisie and Grant lose their mother and Patrick's brother has a health crisis of his own, Patrick finds himself suddenly taking on the role of primary guardian.

Finding Yourself Without Looking
Revisado: 04-16-22
Great read! This novel is great from the 1st word to the very last word. Patrick, the main character in this novel is very self absorbed and self centered. However, when he discovers he has to raise and Reacquainting with his niece and nephew over the summer months he discovers more than who they are, but We're acquainting with himself.
I picked this book because I was looking for a summer read during summer months. This novel fit the bill exactly.
The relationship Patrick has with his niece and nephew over the summer months And Palm Springs is so real. His experiences with them is humorous yet realistic for a Gay Uncle who has never been around children his entire adult life.
Raising children is more than feeding and bathing. Raising a little human beings is learning how to communicate with them at their level and without adding the adding the drama and sarcasm which gay men tend to place in their character to give them more color.
Patrick seems to choose this endeavor as a journey rather than a challenge. Through their entire summer with each other they learn each other and treasure treasure each other as each passing day goes by in the heat of the desert.
If you're looking to get away from your everyday non exciting summer months, this novel will make you pass the days with humor and reminiscing of things that have gone by.

Historia
In Metes and Bounds, surf, sand, and sex meet in the macho world of construction workers. For narrator Matt, "the greatest comfort of surfing comes in the sureness and instinct." Matt is not just coming of age, he's coming out, and in the sun-bleached world of the North Carolina beaches his burgeoning sexuality can toss as many curves as a wave. Through his longings and self-discovery, Matt knows he cannot let others triumph over being the man he knows to be.

Navigating Stormy Waters and Warm Sands of Life
Revisado: 02-28-22
I was searching for a beach read that had more substance than sex. Metes and Bounds balanced both nicely. Like any young boy, Matt navigates his life with self confidence, yet finds life isn't so easy when he encounters those who struggle with their own identities and the ways of the south. Moving out to the beach and living with Tiger becomes his true north. Tiger reluctantly shares the struggles of his past like morsels in hopes that what he experiences are to seen as growing pains and not permanent scar that could hinder Matt'slife path.
As Matt swims through stormy waters to find a safe haven simular to what Tiger and Mark have, he keeps the reader engaged, drawing the reader so that they experience every emotional and physical encounter. The novel is a keeper. It's relatable and believable, which is key to keeping the reader in wanting more...

The story line is great. Keeps you guessing who did it. As the story goes on, each character seems to have a reason for the finger to be pointed on them with good reason.

In these dark and dirty stories Ken Shakin probes the mind and body of the man next door. The hunk, the nerd, the thug, and the dentist. Anonymous men prowl the pages of reportage about normal life and sex stranger than fiction, told as literary gossip by a storyteller who only has to pick up the phone to hear all about it, straight from the horse's mouth. In each twisted tale top and bottom reveal themselves through a common interest, the act that resists the label.

Truckers have long been ingrained in the American popular imagination, celebrated in movies like Smokey and the Bandit and many a country-western ballad. They're also a favorite queer sexual icon, joining such types as sailors, cops, firemen, and other guys who "service society". For some gay men, life on the road conjures up images of hairy, sweaty, blue-collar joes traveling from town to town in their big 18-wheelers, pulling into all-night diners, gas stations, cheap motels, and highway rest stops for sex.
