Historia
Newlyweds Celestial and Roy are the embodiment of both the American Dream and the New South. He is a young executive, and she is an artist on the brink of an exciting career. But as they settle into the routine of their life together, they are ripped apart by circumstances neither could have imagined. Roy is arrested and sentenced to 12 years for a crime Celestial knows he didn't commit. Though fiercely independent, Celestial finds herself bereft and unmoored, taking comfort in Andre, her childhood friend, and best man at their wedding.

Beautiful yet complicated love story. I was so vested in the characters. I enjoyed the book. The readers had great delivery.

so easy to get invested in the story
Revisado: 11-04-23
I love this book, and having recently visited Ghana it helped me go deeper into the history and culture of the country. It felt good to be able to take the journey as I listened knowing I'd been to some of the places mentioned in the story. I have an even greater appreciation for the journey of our ancestors. I am grateful for having taken the journey to say thank you.

Historia
In his early 20s, Curtis Jackson, known as 50 Cent, rose to the heights of fame and power in the cutthroat music business. A decade ago, the multi-platinum selling rap artist decided to pivot. His ability to adapt to change was demonstrated when he became the executive producer and star of Power, a high-octane, gripping crime drama centered around a drug kingpin's family. The series quickly became "appointment" television, leading to Jackson inking a four-year, $150 million contract with the Starz network - the most lucrative deal in premium cable history.

More than what I expected

50 shows his depth in this book. I took so much such from this book. Business advise, setting boundaries with people, take risks, learn from failure, be true to your own authenticity and so much more. I'm motivated to keep going.

Answered my social media concerns
Revisado: 01-07-22
One of my goals this years is to have a better social media strategy. This book answered so many of my concerns around social media. Ronnie helped me identify what I need to improve on to build my brand, social media presence and influence by doing the work and continuing to be myself. I've only ever wanted an organic following. I appreciate her transparency and providing the tools in this book. I'm excited to implement the recommendations to my pages.

Historia
From Minneapolis to Louisville, to Portland, Kenosha, and Washington, DC, America’s reckoning with its unmet promises on race and class is at a boiling point not seen since the 1960s. While conversations around pathways to progress take place on social media and cable TV, history tells us that meaningful change only comes with radical legislation and boots-on-the-ground activism. Here, Mallory shares her unique personal experience building coalitions, speaking truth to power, and winning over hearts and minds in the struggle for shared prosperity and safety.

More than a book, an education and call to action.
Revisado: 05-29-21
Powerful, informative and engaging. I'd highly recommend reading. Tamika is truth and in this book she delivers a history lesson, a breakdown of the current structures of oppression, a plan to reimagine what the future can look like, our demands for equality and justice for black people and POC. It's a call to action for readers. She makes me proud to continue to do my part.
