I am immediately going to read this book again. Humble, understandable wisdom for any life. Useful even for a 73 year-old like me, life-changing for anyone younger. I have read over 150 books in 16 months, and this book is in my top five. Read it, and gift copies to others--BE USEFUL!

Surprisingly good. Great performance and great story. Some parts were probably edited for time, but the story was very coherent as presented. I usually like very long Audible books because if they are really good I don't want them to get to that last chapter. But I really enjoyed this performance. I wouldn't mind of they made a series based on these characters with the same actors and same short format....

Dave Cruse has more voices at his command than almost any narrator I have listened to. I was able to relax into the excellent story and great funny bone of the author. Hope this isn't the last book in the series. Great easy Sci fi.
Note, 11/23/22: Just finished my second ' read' of this book while waiting for the next book in a series by another author to be released. My original review stands, with one addition: It is so good when a book is even better the second time around!
GREAT STORY, AMAZING NARRATOR.

Classic Al Franken writing: a huge amount of stinging truth about about corrupt elected and appointed government officials and their oligarchs; and a large helping of political parody and pure Franken humor -- also stinging to those who are the target subjects.
He resigned from the Senate only days before Donald Trump was sworn in as president, and Franken published this book long before Trump ever entered politics, so Trump does not appear in this book; however, Franken's writing is chillingly prescient about the futures of politics, president, Republican party, and the author himself.
I rate this book a Must Read, and would be first to order a multi-volume 2022 or 2024 edition!

Easy knowledge!

The author manages forests with the brilliant mind of a naturalist, a scientist, and a conservationist . He passes his knowledge to us in a gentle, patient manner, never talking down to the reader; rather, with common language and frequent stories and examples he passes on a huge amount of knowledge to the reader. it doesn't take too long before we realize that we are learning from a master--and we can understand him! The narrator is a master of his craft as well. As a layman who loves to be in the woods I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

Kind of a slow start, but if you stay with it, Dr. Li will have you back out in the woods on a regular basis with a new understanding of how important trees are -- to personal healing and the health of the whole world. I myself am experiencing mental and physical renewal at 71 years old, and the information in this book is helping me understand how and why. I recommend this book to anyone.
