Historia
Vietnamese refugees Debbie and Phil Tran have built a comfortable life for themselves in Toronto with their family nail salon. But when an ultra-glam chain salon opens across the street, their world is rocked. Complicating matters further, their landlord has jacked up the rent and it seems only a matter of time before they lose their business. They enlist the help of their daughter, Jessica, who has just returned home after a messy breakup and a messier firing. Together with their son, Dustin, and niece, Thuy, they devise some good old-fashioned sabotage.

For three years, he’s been on the lookout for someone brave enough to follow him onto the legendary Moonlit Mountain. The last place he expected to find her was at Pennyflax & Quince. Meanwhile, Master Freydolf faces the challenge of shaping his masterpiece.

so sweet
Revisado: 12-10-22
I love these books, they are so comforting and nice. A bit heavy on the very big emotions in this last one, but still great.
Great narrator too, no problem in recognizing who is speaking.
8/10 for me ❤️

loved everything, including the narrator. except that he sometimes let the "voices" from one character blend into the next character who was talking.

I like this series, and this book as well. Absolutely did not like the "commentator" -part, as it dragged on for way too long, and was noisy and irritating. Besides that, thumbs up!

Ok, but liked 1 & 2 better
Revisado: 06-17-21
I like this series, but in this book I fond the focus on the two lead characters a bit much. There is a lot of "tingling", "warmth spreading" and "perfect pecs and/or dimples". It feels somewhat awkward and forced. Also, the heroines need to run and insecurities about her feelings are mentioned quite a few times.
I will still continue the series though, I like the narrator, even though she skips a few sounds, especially the t's in the middle of words ("ki'ens") , almost like æ glottal stop.
I also like the story, but hope there will be more focus on it rather than their feelings and tinglings in the next book.

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Historia
In the summer between second and third year at Whitehall, Emily accompanies Lady Barb on her rounds of the Cairngorm Mountains, bringing magical help to the locals and searching for new magicians. For Emily, tired and broken after the events of Study in Slaughter, it should be a chance to relax as well as to visit a new part of the Nameless World, to put her responsibilities aside and just be herself. But the locals aren't quite what she expects, with problems of their own, and Lady Barb is a different person away from Whitehall.
