Historia
A strange plague called the "Gets" is decimating humanity on a global scale. It causes people to forget - small things at first, like where they left their keys... then the not-so-small things like how to drive, or the letters of the alphabet. Then their bodies forget how to function involuntarily - and there is no cure. But now, far below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, deep in the Marianas Trench, an heretofore unknown substance hailed as "ambrosia" has been discovered - a universal healer, from initial reports.

From the author of the viral sensation Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke comes They Were Here Before Us, a novella written in pieces, designed to be consumed as a single cohesive work. The only thing more brutal than nature is love.

Better to read
Revisado: 06-12-23
Sometimes I feel that audio books don’t do the story justice. And that is the case here. I loved the stories but I should have read them on paper.

Sick and twisted
Revisado: 05-28-23
This story was so gruesome! I have never read anything that made me want to hurl like this. I had to stop and take a break for a day. Excellent writing for a short story.

Historia
John Wayne Cleaver is dangerous, and he knows it. He's obsessed with serial killers, but really doesn't want to become one. So for his own sake, and the safety of those around him, he lives by rigid rules he's written for himself, practicing normal life as if it were a private religion that could save him from damnation. Dead bodies are normal to John. They don't demand or expect the empathy he's unable to offer. Perhaps that's what gives him the objectivity to recognize that there's something different about the body the police have just found behind the Wash-n-Dry Laundromat - and to appreciate what that difference means.

I think the author did a lot of great research on how a sociopath thinks. This was a great listen and I am interested in the rest of the series.

This story kept me coming back to listen every time I had a free second. Such a horrible part of the past that people tried to get rid of. A great and terrible story. A must listen.

Historia
Deep in the heart of Appalachia stands a crooked farmhouse miles from any road. The Morrows keep to themselves, and it's served them well so far. When girls go missing off the side of the highway, the cops don't knock on their door. Which is a good thing, seeing what's buried in the Morrows' backyard. But 19-year-old Michael Morrow isn't like the rest of his family. He doesn't take pleasure in the screams that echo through the trees.

Revisado: 12-01-22
This was a good story, I did not like the lack of description of the creature. Also we got zero resolution of where the creature came from or its purpose.
