The first review?
Revisado: 03-27-25
For some reason, this show is playing the same episode twice unless I manually forward the show. It’s not a problem because I’m fine with pushing buttons, whether it’s a person’s buttons or those of a machine.
You (content creator) clearly state at the end of an installment that your mom reviewed your podcast. Why does Audible say my review is the first and why can’t I find hers? I’m not calling you a liar—but I’m worried that maybe your momma’s tellin’ tales. Did she tell you there’s a Santa and an Easter bunny? If she did, that’s fine. Just please don’t mention it to anyone over the age of six. Be your dear, precious, innocent little self as long as possible.
Oh, you wanted a review of the show, right? It’s fine.
You and your momma need to have a nice long talk. Bring tissues, especially if you ask about Santa or the Easter Bunny. Other topics to avoid: The Tooth Fairy, the great pumpkin, and the exact location of the “nice farm upstate” where your childhood pets “retired.”
Ok—if you’ve read this far, perhaps it’s time to reward you. The writing is delightful, the cast is talented, and I’m sure your mother is a truly lovely woman who only lies when she absolutely must. Please keep entertaining us with your clever scripts and amusing dialogue.

Historia
Life is an uncertain morphing of the beautiful and devastating, the reckless and ordained, the inconsequential and cataclysmal. Brianna Wiest writes about her own experiences and truths of life as they pertain to the greater universe in this first compilation of her work. The selected pieces are ones to turn to when you are in need of answers, comfort and a little tough love now and again. Brianna provides a place of solace and understanding while still perpetuating her beliefs as they pertain to the reality of our individual journeys.

Pithy advice/Wives Tales
Revisado: 01-09-23
Though this advice may benefit some people, many thoughts are not advisable. The most important thing I can tell people who listen to this book is please; please don’t jump into the ocean with open wounds. Yes, saline water can heal, but the ocean is not a sanitary environment. The author’s mother’s experience and advice should be updated to include modern medical practices. Advising people with open wounds to swim in any ocean is simply a terrible idea. This wasn’t fact checked and contains untrue statements and information perceived as fact. Any medical professional (or even someone like me with knowledge of First Aid) is aware that bug bites are wounds that are best treated by modern medicine. Wounds of any variety can become infected or have problems from microorganisms and bacteria found in unfiltered ocean water.

Historia
A thousand-year-old cultivator, Drew, is about to ascend to a higher existence. As he begins the process, he finds out he has pissed off one too many demigods. Though he manages to fight off the concerted effort of sect elders and patriarchs...he is slapped away from the higher realms by something. After an instant or an eternity, he awakens on a lower realm! The air is filled with garbage energy, and his emotions of all things are allowing him to control it. For a cultivator that has spent his existence absolutely controlling his thoughts...that won’t do at all.

I don’t understand this story
Revisado: 01-09-23
I finished my college experience with a 3.94 GPA and had 189 credits. I’m a 40 year old certified teacher. How this stream-of-consciousness story completely confused me is beyond comprehension. I truly wanted to like this book. It seemed like in order to understand the story you needed a Gamer background or something similar.
Don’t get me wrong—I loved the performer. What a lovely, velvet voice. I thoroughly enjoyed what they did with the source material. The performance was the story’s one redeeming quality.
There was vocabulary (Manna, Chi) that have different usages in various religions, but these words don’t hold the same meanings here.
There’s talk of a rabbit eating her young (which happens with animals sometimes) so the main character creates a shovel from his magic to behead the cannibalistic mother. He then ate momma rabbit. I know that it probably seemed like karmic justice to him, but the whole scene felt gratuitously vile and unnecessary.
I don’t enjoy books that don’t give me a path forward. I need to know that I’m not just following a guy and his pet bunny around as he spies on unusual animals and cities while speculating about the world in which he suddenly finds himself.
The story’s synopsis should mention the intended audience. I’m educated and middle aged but I dress my real-life horses up as unicorns, Pegasus, and other magical creatures for little kids’ birthday parties. I’m still 12 years old in my head. However, no matter how much I love middle grade and young adult books, certain concepts in this particular story elude me. Give a better synopsis so you don’t end up with negative comments and reviews from people who really want to love your book but just don’t understand it.

Owen returns to Lake Cane to finish his senior year, where people he hardly remembers despise him for his father's crimes.

Captivating
Revisado: 12-29-22
This story was an incredible surprise. I rarely cold-listen to a new author without reading online recommendations first, but I took a chance. Wow, did that chance pay off. I told my husband, he listened, and immediately we couldn’t wait to read more from this author. I would highly recommend this and any other books from this author.

Since the 1970s, FantasticLand has been the theme park where "Fun is Guaranteed!" But when a hurricane ravages the Florida coast and isolates the park, the employees find it anything but fun. Five weeks later, the authorities who rescue the survivors encounter a scene of horror. Photos soon emerge online of heads on spikes outside of rides and viscera and human bones littering the gift shops, breaking records for hits, views, likes, clicks, and shares.

Listen Again and again
Revisado: 12-29-22
I love this twisted tale; a modern Lord of the Flies. I can’t figure out what it is about this story that’s so captivating—descriptions, characters; the fact that the theme park seems like a living, breathing, half-whimsical-turned-monstrous backdrop. Whatever magic this author has woven, I’m trapped. I return to listen when I need a palate cleanser or feel cynical about the world. It’s both life-affirming and a delicious train wreck of death.
(As a side note—I think the writer would be a highly entertaining dinner guest.)
