It’s a shame that such a beautiful love story had to be suffer from terrible audio quality and narrators who may have not been ready and experienced enough to fully embody these characters.

Javi Wilder’s audio comes with way too many instances of background noise that is irritatingly distracting, taking you completely out of this amazing story.

I admire the narrators, who are fairly new, for doing their best on an audiobook that was HIGHLY anticipated, but I don’t believe they were ready to carry the storytelling, emotions and connection needed for a story of this caliber.

Everyone on this project from the author, to the narrators and the beloved characters deserved better than this.

Author collabs are sometimes right in theory, but difficult in the execution. I'd say that K. Loraine and Meg Anne were successful in combining their different styles known deeply by fans and weaving them into something completely new. This story has a lot of character development and world-building that it may take readers a while to get into the groove. But Obsession lays the foundation for what could be a great series from these two authors.

The audiobook production goes the extra EXTRA mile with Stella Hunter truly carrying this project on her shoulders. The male narrators will likely get the hype and the praise in these reviews for being sexy, which they ARE, but the true star is Stella and she deserves that recognition.

Standard single dad romance, good duet performance

Single dad romances are bread and butter for a lot of reasons. They are normally forbidden with vulnerable heroes that are easy to fall in love with and adorable kids who steal the show. This book has these elements that make a good single dad romance.

Abby Brooks is to new-to-me author so I wasn't sure what to expect. For those who love hot and steamy sex, Shameless is more on the hot one-liners and adorable side on the spicy meter.

Jack is loveable off the jump and in this audiobook, you can contribute that to the performance of Connor Crais. As a father of three, Jack is perfectly imperfect and Crais' work in this captures that in a way that is truly genuine. He meets Amelia is a pretty standard meet-cute scene where the kids kind of overshadow the moment in hilarious fashion. Amelia is a quirky, unconventional, and holistic heroine with her essential oils and manifestations who just moved to a judgey small town with a Gossip Girl style neighbor with a pretty active Facebook following. Once her character starts to introduce herself, as a reader you can kind of see where the story is going. Luckily, audiobook listeners have Stella Hunter to bring Amelia's POV to life, which really adds that that little bit of missing spark to the story.

Moral of the review? Connor and Stella's performance make this book flippin' flappin' good.

Best Shane Ever Performance To Date

Warning: You will end this book frustrated, but there is a HEA. Just not the HEA you maybe had in mind.

Ty Christianson is the best book boyfriend I have read in 2021. He is complicated, funny, complex, and emotionally damaged in the best ways. However, Lainey Summer will drive you crazy as much as she drives Ty insane through half of this book. This book is a marathon, not a sprint. The first half is a major slow burn, but then it starts to pick up after Chapter 16. Since the entire book is told from Ty's POV, you feel more connected to Ty than Lainey. Feelings toward the female MC may have been better if this was dual POV.

The twists and turns are insane. Just when you have the story figured out, you don't. Actually, you won't know anything until the last chapter. Then.... it..... just.....ends. Now, I have never been fully appreciated epilogues until this book. They really do put the perfect bow on a series.

Because of the hefty length of this book, I was glad to be an audiobook listener because it really made the reading experience go by. Perfect Chaos is narrated by Shane East. There are several emotional scenes in this book that he handled near perfectly. The final pool scene is an award-winning performance.

Not your standard fake relationship tale

Revisado: 02-22-21

The blurb is not always how it appears.

This story goes beyond your standard "fake relationship" trope. Daniel and Scarlett's fake honeymoon is more of a performance than an actual marriage seen in typical romances, which was a fun surprise. Besides that, simply put this book is sexy, dirty, and swoony as Lauren Blakely's writing continues to evolve in that aspect. As of huge fan of her work, it has been incredible over the last year to see her find new and interactive ways for a couple's sexual relationship to further the storytelling.

There are some plot points that come as a complete surprise. One twist came so out of left field it kind of took me out of the experience completely. It may have just been me, but there seemed to also be something missing from this story. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it left much to be desired.

For audiobook fans, this book is narrated by Shane East and Vanessa Edwin. These narrators sound great together and have a chemistry listener can believe. However, Vanessa is the star of this book combining her sultry style with a level of vulnerability that shines. Joe Arden also makes an appearance portraying his character in LB's "One Exquisite Touch," but it is a small role and doesn't add anything to the story, really. Erin Mallon's performance as Scarlett's best friend had a lot of life to it, which was fun to hear two female narrators play off of each other duet style.

Note: In the audiobook, there is some violin music intertwined into parts of the dialogue in two or three parts of the book. I found this completely distracting, but others may not be bothered.

Rom-Com satisfaction guaranteed

Revisado: 02-14-21

Kayley Loring once again proves that she is the Queen of Rom-Coms in "A Very Friendly Valentine's Day." She knows how to make a story charming, lighthearted, and most importantly funny. In her books, the characters have a visible purpose who believably belong together. Birdie and Eddie are no expectation.

Birdie may be the most empathic heroine Kayley Loring has written, but she is also the most complete. She is unapologetically a "nerd," but better said she's a highly intelligent woman which makes her interests/hobbies unique. However, unlike in typical story arcs, the hero doesn't belittle those interests or try to change her. It's one of the many qualities that makes Eddie an ideal romantic hero.

For audiobook listeners, we know that Kayley writes with narrators in mind and it once again shows in this story. Connor Crais and Mackenzie Cartwright shine in Kayley's books because they are not only able to bring the funny but the charm as well.

I will say that even though it's great to be exposed to new narrators in the audiobook community, the conductor scenes with the featured narrator came across as dry and uninspiring, but the role is small enough where it won't ruin the listening experience.

At the end of the day, the Connor/Mackenzie duo is like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan where you can witness them fall in love over and over again no matter what stories they tell.

Never been so glad to be wrong

Revisado: 01-20-21

I will admit that I self-cautiously went into this book with lower than normal expectations. Joe Arden is a fantastic narrator, one of the best for a reason, but to create your words, characters and story, even with Lauren Blakely’s name attached, I wasn’t sure how the end product would be. I am glad to say that I was completely wrong because this story is hysterical and heartfelt yet usual in key ways.

For me, it’s rare for a book to laugh out loud funny. Besides Teddy’s hilarious internal monologue, his job as a DJ brings with it a cast of characters, including Teddy’s bestie Sam, who becomes one of the highlights of this book. Another plus is that the heroine, London, is a breath of fresh air as a female lead in romance novels. She is funny, witty, and independent in a way that female readers can still put themselves in her shoes, even though the story is told from the male point of view.

How To Get Lucky is also sincerely heartfelt in a way that may take you by surprise because it is so funny. The relationship between Teddy and London is sparked and grown by great conversations that aren’t forced and appear genuine. It’s a reminder that friendship is the foundation of happy romantic partnerships.

What I believe makes this story usual in the romance genre is how normal it is. A lot of these stories have a high level of fantasy where it can be borderline unbelievable, which is part of the escapism. However, this story is strangely normal. Teddy is a DJ working at a club who loves playing at weddings, his best friend gives lap dances for a living, and the love of his life is a choreographer looking for that next step. It’s completely believable, which is very refreshing.

For audiobook listeners, Joe Arden’s performance of his own words is so fun. You can almost hear the excitement in his voice at certain moments. And hey, can’t blame him. Special note that the text conversations with London and her two best friends are some of the highlights of the book! Erin Mallon, Maxine Mitchell, and Emma Wilder bring the funny in the best ways as well.

Five-star reviews are up there with blow jobs and tacos. Therefore the following review was not taken lightly. Happy, reading!

“Be nice for fucks sake because there are too many mean people in the world and that sucks."

You know, sometimes a book hooks you in with just the prologue, and Good With His Hands does just that.

Jessie and Ruby's story starts with a roller coaster of emotions and ends with them happily under a love umbrella. But it's the story arc in between that had me hook. This is about Jessie & Ruby's love story, but I believe most importantly it's a story about friendship, in particular, female friendships. I found myself feeling more emotionally connected to Ruby and Clarie's friendship as the book went on.

There are also great lessons for female readers, which doesn't come as a surprise when it's written by two badass female best-selling authors. My biggest takeaway was the reminder that if women stop apologizing, they can take their power back. Ruby takes her power back physically, emotionally, and mentally. Lauren and Lili's character growth with Ruby is just spectacular. She marks off fears on her list one brave activity at a time and when the book ends, don't be surprised if you find yourself thinking, "What fear can I tackle?"

This book may also have you calling your best friend to tell them how much you love them. I sure did.

Those Ryker boys play hard and love hard and Tristan fits the bill.

The Ryker Ranch series has been a joy during quarantine because it is light, sexy, and hilarious. Each brother has their own lovable quality that pulls you in. Tristan is the reformed playboy, which makes him the perfect hero for a surprise baby story arc. Over the course of the book, you watch him completely shift into the man readers (and Mama Ryker) always knew he would be. As for Hazel, she is now my favorite heroine of the Ryker series. Her fearlessness flies off the page that it becomes effortless for a reader to connect with her.

For audiobook fans, you know what to expect from Aaron Shedlock. All of the dreamboat-level darlings’ for you to enjoy. I will say that Stella Hunter shines in this one. Audiobook fans of this series will see a growth in her talent and performance over the three books, with this one being peak level greatness.

This series always ends with a sneak peek of what’s to come and the next book will feature the mysterious Ryker brother Sam. Be prepared for a jaw-drop moment involving him in this book that sets the stage for the next chapter of the Ryker series.

Side note: It goes without saying that Mama Ryker is once again a book highlight. Without going into spoilers, you will realize your love for her in this book when something unexpected happens. Now if we can only get that Ryker prequel…

Fall in love with Lucy, Ben and Puck!

Karen Grey knows what makes romantic comedies so great and she does it well. This story had it all: second chance romances, family, lost, and adorable dogs

Like her previous work, Lucy is the ideal heroine. She is unapologetically smart, funny, and flawed in a way that every woman is. Emma Wilder was perfect in this role because, like in her previous works, she's able to effortlessly pull you in with her performance that you feel apart of the story. Also, salute Karen Grey for creating a female lead who has curves upon curves.

Ben Porter is crafted to be the hero we cheer on. You will find yourself rooting for Ben at every turn from the beginning of his friendship with Puck to his complicated relationship with his father. The heartbreak of Ben is that he is portrayed beautifully by the late Brian Pallino who shines in this book. (Karen's dedication to him is beautiful as well).
